You are exactly right about what the problem is and return to center comes directly from caster. If you google return to center and caster you will find a number of articles or videos about this.Btw I figured out what the problem is with the handling, it’s the lack of it returning to center. It doesn’t self track. That’s the only issue. That’s also why you can mentally adjust to it.
That relationship is why so many report major steering improvement from adding the longer LCA to rubicons and taller. It moves caster closer to 6, where Sports and Saharas are from factory with the stock arms that all Jeeps have. OP is obviously correct that 3.7 is less than 4, but the bigger problem is that 4 is too low to begin with. My guess is your reaction to the steering would be the same even if that 3.7 was a 4.0.
As others have said, give the longer Mopar LCAs a shot.
