Just got my Jeep back from the dealer, drives great with fixed steering at 13k miles. Took an extra day as dealer was missing a part. You see they ordered parts based on old TSB 08-074-20 Rev A,B,C,D,E for 2018+ Jeeps ... So the new TSB 08-003-21 added Mopar 68394087AA which is a Front Track Bar for 18-21 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT.

So if got your Jeep fixed on a earlier TSB and they did not add this part, go ask for that Front Track Bar. I could not find post for the new TSB 08-074-21.

Attached is my service order... got other several other stuff done, TMPS died, did computer updates and fixed reboot of Nav center. O and I forgot to get my vehicle inspected and update my license plates, they noticed and charge me the usual $14 fee. So the other work came to $1,500 all under warranty. Happy camper with peace of mind.

Interesting...

Confirm you have a 2 door or 4 door? Your part for the steering gear shows 4-door. The 2-door part is 68507571AA....

UPDATE ON Ed observation....

OK dealer called back and confirmed I HAVE THE WRONG PART installed. They could see what was ordered and they received was wrong... not for a 2 Door. Thank you Ed. Waiting on the correct part to come in. Jeep drives so good like a JLRU.

So do they need to update/flash the Jeep computer as well. I think so per the instructions on the TSB.

Lesson learned is have them verify the right part... You will have to be a anxl customer to save a 2 hour trip and 3 hours to reinstall.

Well...don't thank me yet.

I have heard differing accounts about how the steering box feels between 2-door and 4-door. I would say I have read better accounts of the 4-door steering gear replacement driving better than the 2-door.

Separately, I believe if/when they replace your steering gear, that they reflash everything (because the computer does take into account driving conditions and adjustments) and to redo the steering alignment per the TSB.

I sincerely hope the new box operates well for you. If the 2-door steering gear feels worse than the one you have in now, then my apologies!

One last thing - could you get a copy (even pictures) of the -003-21 TSB and post for us to have? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Ed for your comments.. what is difference from 68507571AA and 68507569AA other then one for 4 door and one for 2 door.

I was told by service writer it was 08-074-21 but only see 08-074-20 with Rev E. I google for 08-074-21 and saw one posting for 08-074-21 on this forum but removed stating it was a copyright infringement.

Edit: do you have more numbers to your request "-003-21 TSB"

Dang Jack, they've even added color coded dots to the steering gear label and included the code in the TSB. Red is for a 4 door and blue is for a 2 door. I wonder where that part of the process failed.

Later,
Johnny

I honestly don't know what the difference in the parts might be.

The latest TSB was 08-074-20 REV E, but then another update on steering came out a few weeks ago that others have mentioned, which is 08-003-21. I have looked at the Mopar site, this site, and googled for it, and still can't find that TSB. It references the 08-074-20 TSB, and includes the same parts and part numbers, but requires an update to the ECU software and doing an alignment.

I checked. The first TSB was done on my Jeep. The part number is the same on this TSB so the steering gear is the same.
However, there is additional work. Replacement of the Track Bar on our Jeep. (hasn't been done.) and an alignment. (hasn't been done.)
I am beyond frustration.
The work done made the Jeep steer better, but not as well as expected.
This is disgusting.
How is this not a RECALL.

David
