Hi,

I ordered my Jeep on May 5th, the dealer placed the order on May 9th, details below. I was supposed to pick up my Jeep today, but got a call from the dealership saying not to pick it up because there is a loud, unusual noise from the bottom. HOW CAN A JEEP STRAIGHT FROM THE FACTORY BE BROKEN ALREADY? Didn’t it get an inspection at the factory? the dealership said he wants his head transmission mechanic to look at it, and he will not be back in until Monday. Just seems fishy to me.

I am leary of taking delivery when it is already having issues right off the truck. The dealership has already sold my trade-in, so there is no getting that back. What should I do? I am without a car now, please advise... .

I thought I already replied to this but can't see my reply?

It's unlikely but, go to the dealer to make sure they did not sell your Jeep to someone else.

It's possible your JL has a bad transmission even if it's brand new. I know of one JL owner who had 300 miles with a bad transmission. Think they are trying to have FCA buy it back under lemon law?

I would not take the car if the transmission is bad. No way.

It's never a good idea to transfer ownership of your car before getting the new car. You are married to that dealer because you probably have a sales-tax credit from your trade. Ideally it's best to try working out something with the dealer. Try finding another like JL in inventory or that is inbound. Have the dealer provide a loaner car if needed.

It depends on if you have a sales tax credit, what tax credit laws are like in FL, and how much of a discount you got on the new JL? It might make sense to walk away and buy from a dealer who is selling for 5%-6% under invoice? That might make sense if your tax credit is not much and you paid MSRP or something?

Thanks for the info viper88. I will have to check out the sales tax credit thing and just be patient to see what happens.

Update: the dealer said the noise is because the flywheel bolts are missing. WHAT!! How can it leave the factory without bolts? Didn’t they hear the loud noise at the factory and wonder why? I am worried about the damage from that now.

I am going reject it and ask that they expedite a replacement from the factory and give me a loaner.

Which engine and trans? What was the build date on the door jam?

That's unbelievable! Some bolts had to be attached or the starter would not have engaged the flywheel to start the engine. The bolts were probably loose and worked their way loose. Or some were not installed at the plant. It's a epic fail no matter what. FCA needs to wake the f--K up and fire whoever is in charge on Quality Control. Personally I would wonder what else they missed during QC on that vehicle. I would order another one for sure. Hopefully the second one is put together better. Unreal?

2.0 L turbo (automatic) I didn’t go look at it so I don’t know the door jam info. dealer said his mechanic thinks the bolts were never there. I ask them to expedite me a replacement. And get a loaner.
