Just got one and it being a Sunday they didn't have anyone there to do it.

It's a good 30 miles away in Northern VA so traffic is terrible.

Any reason they need to flash it within 48 hrs? I didn't ask but the sales guy was pretty adamant it be done in 2 days so he doesn't get in trouble.

I've never bought a new car before. Is this normal?

I'm pretty sure they're supposed to update all the software before handing it over to you. I would guess this helps minimize warranty claims and results in better customer satisfaction. With so much software driving these vehicles, some updates can make a big difference. Sounds like they just forgot to flash yours with the latest updates before delivery.

My GUESS is the vehicle did not have the proper / or any PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) which includes computer updates, etc.. Maybe they did not take the vehicle out "Ship Mode".

Have you noticed any unusual behavior in regard to the vehicle?

FCA will be on their case for this..

Do take the vehicle in as requested by the dealer. I'd also have them fill my gas tank up, on them, since their error is having you drive 60 miles, out of your way.

Yeah the guy said he would fill the tank again

It was a random one on their lot not one I ordered. Had 12 miles on it and 60 now. Wife drove it home didn't mention anything funny about it

Now I'm reading this could take several hours on top of a 2 hr round trip.
Is this something any jeep dealer would do when I take it in for an oil change at dealer expense of course?

I second the motion on the PDI needing to be done and taken out of ship mode. When I got my JL, it was a across town dealer transfer and I was rushed for time and they delivered it to me to only find out after I drove off the lot the original dealer never did the PDI to take it out of ship mode. I returned it the next day for them to do the PDI and it had the dealership tech hooking up a scan tool that took it out of ship mode and enable all the other modules. At that time, it forced an update to a couple of the modules when they did it.

Found a video on YouTube how to take it out of ship mode but I think it has been since I have full control of the infotainment system and climate
