Building one right beast of a machine.

The long arms look great, but even with just the front, how are your impressions of the ride changes?
Initial thoughts, they are soft and bouncy. To be fair, I dont have the 300lbs of belly skids on though.

Happy Thursday Night.

I have the front end buttoned up. I need to secure the gas tank in order to take her on a spin tomorrow.

I had the same problem as @DonBucket with the brake rotor retaining screw. I was able to remove the broken torx, and drill out the screw.

Thats all I have. Enjoy the pics and thanks for stopping by.

@19 JLUR Bright Whit3

That looks like the part that I found destroyed inside the Fad... Any Idea what that is or does?
Its a plastic bushing that keeps the two axles pieces in the fad from slapping in to each other. You may be able to just buy that piece.

Happy Sunday, Folks.

It was a much nicer day than yesterday.

I ended up swapping my slotted rotors around. I saw that they were not on the correct sides because the slots were not going in the direction of the wheel. It took all of thirty minutes, but I decided to grease all the fittings, the ball joints and rods.

I was unsucessful in getting rid of the "service 4wd" light. I will have to dig deeper into whats causing the code as it comes back right away. There are way too many nannies on the JLs.

I love that the Tazer MIni has so many features, but the interface with the steering wheel buttons is annoying as F. It likes to reboot every 10 seconds too. Argh.

I moved the trailer around and have an appointment to plate it tomorrow.

Anyways, thats all I have for tonight. Thanks for stopping by.

Okay I’ve asked a few people but wondering what my local friends vote. I have a sport S with 35” tires. 30/35 axles. I’m going to regear and debating 4.56 vs 4.88. Shop is suggesting 4.88 but curious if anyone has an opinion.

Happy Monday night, Jeep Peeps.

I got the trailer registered, plated and titled in NJ. Still nothing from the dealer on the Chevy plates.

I also started the rear long arm/axle swap. I will need to transfer over the brake dust shield and parking brake mechanism over to the new axle. I am not looking forward to dropping the gas tank as many have said the gas line clips are very fragile. Maybe, I can get away with lowering it and covering with a moving blanket. 😁

I will also delete the FAD that I was getting the C147B-14 code on. Spicer makes a kit and the Tazer will kill the FAD function.

Enjoy the pics.

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Tuesday night.

I watched a bunch of YT videos on gas tank removal. I couldnt find a JL specific one and the JK connectors looked a bit different. I went to HF and bought a fuel line removal kit. It turned out after watching some random video explaining the different types of connectors, I was able to identify the connectors used in the JLs and removed them without any special tools. The important thing is none of the connectors broke. Yeah!

The gas tank is now out of the way. I took the drive shaft off and hopefully I can reuse it. I also removed the speed sensors and the hand brake lines. I will continue tomorrow.

Thats all I have for tonight. Enjoy the pics.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Zeke

Happy Hump Day, Folks.

I spent an hour in the garage and got the rear axle out. I will need to transfer the spring pads, brake shield and parking brake assembly over to the new axle. I decided to order a new pair of parking brake pads. Should be here on Friday. I'm not proud to admit it, but I might have driven with the parking brake engaged a few times. LOL
I will cut the old control arm brackets off, grind, paint, install the new brackets and attach the frame side long arms before sliding the new axle underneath. I measured the distance between the two yokes and most likely I will be able to reuse my Adams driveshaft.

Enjoy the pics.

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Nice work Zeke!!!
I had a guy ask about buying my rear axle since last year. I will most likely sell it to him at a great price of XXXX. (If he still wanted it) They are going for $1500+ normally without chromoly shafts and a Next Venture skid. Still a great deal without the brake shield and parking brake assembly. (OEM disc rotor included) I'll post it here if he backs out before putting it out in the general forum.
