My last car was an AMG GLC43 which was a blast with a 9 speed transmission and a twin turbo V6. I bought it because I changed jobs and the new job was in the medical center with very confined parking. My Powerstroke 4WD would not fit into the parking garage. However, after a period off time passed I realized I had to have a 4WD and did not want another truck. The jeep was the best choice because it was true 4WD, had 4 doors, had decent space inside, and was very customizable.

Prior to buying it, I rented a Sahara and drove it from Houston to Sheridan, WY to go on a varmint hunt. It had the 2.0T engine and while it was fine and had plenty of power, I did not want the long term maintenance/complication of a turbo charged engine in conjunction with the cooling system on the 2.0T. I have been very happy with "The Grinch" thus far.

A 2003 Liberty KJ with the Renegade trim. Back in 2003 I wanted a Wrangler but my wife said "No, we need a 4 door vehicle." The Wrangler Unlimited wasn't a thing yet. So I bought the Liberty and drove it into the ground. I waited 17 years to get a Wrangler so nothing was going to stop me from getting one this time around!

2017 Tacoma 4wd Off Road. Hated the motor and shift pattern. Almost always have had a 4wd. Saved up for a lift and tires for the taco and saw a pumpkin orange JLU. Looked into and the MPG was so much better than what I was used to hearing about Jeeps (I drive 40-45kmiles/year) and it read about the same as my TACO. Test drove it with 35" Tires and got the same mileage as my stock TACO. Love driving the jeep better, it rides about the same but is geared better and performs better in regular driving. At WOT though the Taco could fly.

2015 VW GTI 4-door. Great car, is long since paid off, hauls an amazing amount of stuff, gets over 30mpg on extended freeway drives. My wife’s lease is coming to an end (Fiat 500e), and her dream ride isn’t out yet (VW Buzz). She likes the GTI so she said I should pick whatever I want and 3 years from now we’ll get a Buzz for her. At first I couldn’t really come up with a choice as I was spoiled by a dirt-cheap lease for the Fiat and we’re in an odd logistic issue due to the pandemic.

We recently bought a house in a fairly rural location, so first time not living in a dense urban space. The wife has always wanted a topless Jeep, I grew up off-roading, and given the new location I went from thinking about it to bringing one home in space of two weeks. Now finding the dirt opportunities and enjoying driving a vehicle I wanted since I was a kid.

I still have my last car. A 1999 Chevy Suburban 4X4 K1500. Still have it and run it regularly. Bought it in 2000. Bought my new JL just for fun.

Had a 2015 Mustang GT Convertible. Lots of fun but have had my eye on a Jeep for a long time, and finally pulled the trigger. Whole different level of fun.

2013 Honda Accord. When my oldest started driving, well....I mean, he needed a car! Jeep has always been my dream, after three kids and "practical" it was the perfect timing... and the wife adores it too!

Came from the best vehicle I’ve ever owned - a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. Several “go fast” mods made it a ~430hp grocery getting. I bought it new and had it for over 12 glorious years. So much fun and an absolutely bulletproof car. Literally zero power train issues for nearly 200k miles of ownership.

Went from horsepower to 4x4 and got my first ever Jeep, a 2020 Sport S. It’s so different but I never thought a car that wasn’t 400+ horsepower could be “fun”. But my Jeep has been an absolute blast for the first month of ownership. Very different but could not be happier. Looking forward to our adventures in “Rachel” the Sting Gray Jeep over the next 10+ years.

Because anything would be better than this 2005 piece of junk .
And I was right, the new Jeep is way better.

2013 Acura RDX… nice little ride, but not the most exciting by any definition of that word.

Part of the agreement with ‘Mrs Midnight’ with moving to Hawaii versus the Pacific Northwest was getting a Wrangler, so sold the RDX, moved out here, and found a 2016 Tank Green JK 2 Door.

I drove the JK for about 8 months then took it in for one of the complimentary oil changes at the dealer… saw Kaiblue sitting there on the lot, and the rest is history.

Or, as I like to say, ‘Life’s most expensive oil change’…:like:

Cheers,
-CM-

2021 Jeep Wrangler Willys
Came off a 2019 Subie WRX, and got into a ‘21 Willys last month…and couldn’t be happier. Bone stock still, but can’t wait to make it how I want it. I decided to make the leap as I wanted something even more fun to get off road with either solo, with the wife/kids, or with a group. Brand new to Jeep but joining this community certainly helped as you can truly see how friendly/helpful fellow Jeepers are. Sure, the WRX community had “the wave” too, but this is so much more it seems like as it comes across as sincere help/advice when needed vs “look at why mine is better/louder/faster”.

Cheers!
