Pretty much since I built the off road camper and took the first long trip, I've been thinking how much nicer swapping out my trusty Ram DT for a 3/4 ton would make these kind of trips. Tow the Jeep and camper (or rebuild the camper onto the tongue of a car hauler) and have the larger room for the 30+ hour (one way) hauls across the country from NC.
I bought my Ram 1500 as soon as they were on the lots, a 19 MY purchased in 18. It's been a great truck, so my first thought was how awesome an AEV Prospector style build on 37s would be as a daily driver and tow rig for our adventures.
Decided I was going to pull the trigger a few months back and started research, and the appartent never ending wait for Ram to release the 2025 MY info, even if I had to wait months for an order. Well, I got tired of waiting after checking out Chevy's updated interior in person. Grabbed an inbound dealer stock order a couple weeks back and picked her up last night.
Newest member of the family, the 25 Chevy 2500 HD ZR2 in 6.6L gas flavor with the 10 speed Allison.
The HD ZR2 is basically an offroad high country 1.5" lift, trick Multimatic DSSV Shocks, rear locker, 35s stock.
37" Ridge Grapplers go on this afternoon, I've got a tool bag with trim tools if necessary, but all signs and reports point to no clearance issues.
