Ok so I haven't found a fiche yet with the 392-specific PNs but I want to see what it would take to add the little fender flap/extensions to a non XR JL. If anyone can post up pics of their XR fenders, especially where they mount on the lip, that would be appreciated. TIA.

The extension parts numbers are:
68536652AA
68536653AA
68536654AA
68536655AA
The fronts (52/53) are $19ish each and rears (54/55) are $17ish each

He said they likely wouldn't be available for ordering until December.

Honestly at those prices it will probably be easiest to buy at dealer, but seems like many people have plans to remove them, so if you can find someone local I'm sure takeoffs will be out there.

It's been mentioned a few times that they are easily removable and presumably easy to install on regular fenders.

Awesome... thanks very much for the info. No clue when I'll have my Rubicon yet but these look to be a smart way to keeping rocks and spray off the sides with wider tires. Good to see they are reasonably priced too.

I have the XR and the flares do little to protect from crap hitting the doors and rear fender. Its only purpose seems to be to have the wider tires from the factory and have the tires be 'covered'.

Thanks very much for this. And I thought my JK was bad at catching dirt/rocks/sand lol.

Maybe my '21 392 will complete/ship someday and I can start working on these additions.

has anyone added these OEM fender trim extensions to their non-XR JL's? looks like it's an easy mod specially if you are running wheel spacers for the untucked look..

Hey @Comac90 - would you mind doing those of us that are adding the XR fender flares to our non XR JLU‘s a favor and count the number of plastic rivets that are used to attach a front one and a rear one to the fender liner? In your pictures it looks like the rear uses 8 rivets and on the front one I see 4 in your picture but can’t tell if that’s all of them. The individual flares haven’t been shipped yet but several have been ordered and we want to be prepared with enough new rivets to install them. Thanks!

1. Will these work on a regular JLUR?

2. Is there a part number for the rivets?

3. I’m assuming the way to install would be to drill holes into the fender, right?

4. And is a special tool required to insert the rivets?

I’m not absolutely sure but I believe it uses the same rivets that are already on the fenders. So for a non XR owner, I believe all you have to do is remove the corresponding rivets and place the lip and then attach the new rivets in the existing holes.

Thanks for posting this, much appreciated.

For anyone that has done this, did you re-use the plastic 'rivets' or just buy new?

Any tips to getting the old ones out?

The rivets are one-time-use. You'll need new ones.

Based on my research so far, you cannot re-use the exist plastic rivets. The new ones are around $3 each, so that would be $102 for just the rivets from Mopar. I'm trying to figure out where to buy the rivets from another source though. The flairs are only $56, so doesn't make sense to pay more for the rivets. A special tool (around $32) is required to install the rivets, however there are some YouTube videos on how to remove and install the rivets without the special tool, but could increase the risk of scratching up the existing fender and new flairs. To remove the rivets, it says to push a nail or screw into the center position which will pop out the stems. To install the rivets, you have to hold the flat part up against the fender with a flat tool, like a painter's scraper, while pulling the stem out until it locks in place. Then cut off the excess stem.
