Hey Sam,
I know you don't have this wheel and tire set up any longer, but I wanted to ask if you had any issues running those 37's with the OEM wheels..being as how it's only 7.5 inches wide.
I like this narrow/tall look very much..but would you advised against it for the long term?

I still have that setup. It works great. There is no issue with the width. I like the look also. The reason for the 40”s right now is I had the set and wanted to see how they worked. I will go back to the 37”s in the fall.

My stock tires were 255/70/18 Bridgestone Duelers. Last week I put on Firestone Destination M/T2s 275/70/18, stock wheels with no lift. Basically 33s. Fills out the wheel well nicely and the Jeep has a much more aggressive stance.

Looks great! I have these 255/75 r17 on my stock Willys. I just wish they came closer to a 34" because they have served me well so far (not to mention I really like the looks of these especially with the white lettering) but want to do a Rubicon spring lift and run 285/75/17 tires. Oh well, looks like it'll have to be Toyo MTs.

Great.
Now to find a nice set of 7.5s.

35” MickeyThompson Boss A/T tires on stock 17” rims.

Jeep is sitting on a mild 2” lift.

Thanks for the info! I ordered 285x70x17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T tires (for $1437 from Discount Tire!) for my stock sport wheels which have a width of 7.5”. I even called the dealership (my Jeep is a lease for now) to get their recommendation on tire size and that is what they recommended. Your photos have made me feel more confident about the look and I’m excited to finally get them installed!
I can't find the 285x70x17 size on Mickey Thompson's website. Are you sure you got the baja boss a/t?

Sorry I forgot to add the ATZP3 after Baja Boss. The tires I have are 285/70/17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATZP3’s on my stock wheels. I really love them since they’re an all terrain/mud terrain hybrid tire so they have an aggressive tread that’s great in all conditions without the drawbacks of a mud terrain tire.

Yeah, that's a No Go on 35x12.50s mounted on a 17x7 wheel. My MOAB wheels are 17x7.5 and it's still a No Go. I decided I don't need to be busting a bead when out on the trail so when I upgraded tires I went with a smaller size to fit the stock wheels.

I like the MOAB wheel so I went with some Toyo AT III tires in a 285/75R17. Toyo's published specification shows the tires are 33.86" tall at specified inflation. I will probably need a spring lift for better articulation on some of the more challenging trail sections I will be traversing with the JLUS but as far as tire performance they should do well.

Here is a before pic of the Jeep with the stock 255/75R17 Firestone Destination tires:

Comparing the two tires the Toyos are 1.2" wider and 1.75" taller than the Firestones.
I was looking at the same Toyo AT IIIs for my 19 Moab. Bought it earlier this year and I have to get rid of the KM2s. They are terrible in my opinion. Did you end up getting a lift or are you still stock? I believe the Willys and Moab have the same lift.

Hi, Tim.

I ran the ATIIIs without a lift for 6 months with no issues. I recently installed a lift and here is how the rig sits today.

I’m looking at getting the Mopar 2” lift since my tires are 285/70/17. I’ve heard from a lot of people that the mopar lift is really 3”-3.5”. Since you have the same tire size as me what size lift did you get? Thanks!

My JLUS currently looks like this:

So I’ve been looking at getting some Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T tires in the size 35”x12.50”xR17. I called Les Schwab today just to get an idea of pricing and if I could put the tires on my 2020 JLUS stock wheels that are matte black and 17”. He told me it wouldn’t work unless the width of the wheel is 8” or more. I’d like some input on if I can put these tires on my stock wheels despite his warnings. My concerns are that it might cause problems on and off-road and the tire might just look strange on the wheels.
Just curious, did you go with the 285/70/17? My son has a stock JLU sport, and I want to get him bigger tires. I have a Sahara and I know what size fits that, but I have 18 inch wheels and I'm not sure if my suspension is the same. If you got them, do they fit OK? Thanks!

Yes I got my tires in that size! I’ve aired them down to 10 and driven on some dunes and had no issue. I keep them at about 37-40psi and they sit great on my Jeep. Here are some photos from this Sunday!

My Jeep (Calypso) is still stock except for the 285/70/17 tires, headlights, brake lights and some other minor details. Still flexes pretty well with some added crunching of the fender liners. Almost forgot! I added some 2” wheel spacers and after installing them I noticed a horrible scraping caused by the tire rubbing against the windjammers above the front bumper..

I ..so I suggest removing them before or after getting larger tires to ensure they don’t interfere with any suspension or other components. Hope this helps and I’d love to hear what tires you’re looking at!
