Jeep Cares
Update on my deal. After being in "Paint Stage" for 5 weeks, 38 days, Jeep tells me today that I have a new VON, my build is starting over after 9 weeks. No explanation. Just you have a new Vehicle order number. It's purely speculation but I sat in Paint for 5 weeks, a stage that's usually a day, then my order is cancelled. No doubt issues with paint. Some might say, "At least they caught it before delivery". Maybe, but I'm sure they could have figured that out 5 weeks ago. Now I start over after 9 weeks and the plant is shut down next week for Summer break, another week lost. Check your paint when you take delivery folksMaybe this explains why I've been in the "Paint Stage" for 3 weeks+. I was in paint stage, then "Build Stage" complete, then back in Paint Stage. Wonder if they found something during inspection. Also White. I'll make sure and check it out good if it is ever delivered.

After seeing a million of these paint issues posts and their outcomes, I would recommend leaving most of those alone. Your first picture seems to be the worst offender, and I think that’s the cowl cover, so it could easily be fixed without affecting other panels. Aside from that, I’d worry all they’re going to do is make your jeep worse. If the scratch on your fender really bothers you, that can also easily be swapped out. I’ve just seen to many people get their jeeps back in worse shape and most of those aren’t worth it IMO unless you start to see corrosion.
I’ve got missing paint under most of my door and tailgate hinges, as well as under the soft top rail on the tub and am not asking them to fix it unless it starts to corrode.
just my .02
I gave up worrying too much about the cosmetic flaws in my new JL. As long as it’s sound mechanically (knock on wood, a lot of wood), I can live with the puckering around the door hinges, Indents around the windshield hood rests and orange peel around the cowl area. A service manager looked at my hood and said she had never seen the concave dishing around the windshield rests before (doubt that very much since half the JLs seem to have this factory inflicted damage) but said they could be fixed at the body shop. No thanks. She suggested that I wait until the paint on the door and hood hinges starts bubbling and have it all repaired at the same time, Unbelievable.Kinda sucks with all the issues popping up, factory workers don’t care.
