I heard the shocks are longer on the XR (non 392) than the standard rubicon (1.5 inches). Are the coils/spring different than standard rubicon as well?

Yes, the shocks and springs are longer... but I haven't confirmed the exact length.

Does anyone know if the lengths of the 392XR shocks are the same as the other engine choices? I’ve blown one of the stock shocks in the first 2500mi so I’m researching upgrades.

I don’t have any relevant information to your question…

however, I would be using my warranty to replace that shock, regardless if you plan to keep them or not. They’re worth money as take offs if nothing else.

I pulled my leaking 392XR shock this morning and took some measurements.
Front
Extended/Sitting on Table: 23 5/8"
Pulled Open: ~24" ish
Compressed: 17 1/4"

Since the 392XR shocks appear to be a full inch, or more, shorter than the standard 392 shocks and since both models use the same bump stop towers, is it a safe assumption to say the XR has less articulation than the STD model in stock form?

Just an FYI...I measured the height of the Sport, Rubicon, and RubiconXR yesterday at a dealership. Measurement was height to door handle. Rubicon was 1.25 inches higher than Sport (probably due to bigger tires and maybe a bit of suspension height) and RubiconXR was 1.75 inches higher than Rubicon (again, probably due to 35" tires and modest suspension height)

FWIW,

My sport has rubi springs and 35s, parked next to a rubi xr at work. No actual measurements but just perspective.

it's raining out, so can't get my other tags off of the coils, but front left is 0188AA and rear left is 0197AA.

no steel bumper group. I'm curious if steel bumper group gives a different spring rate coil?

i've looked up all the part numbers, and all of them come back as same pricing, I believe it was just different revisions on parts, i'm curious about the stock number/PNR on the line in factory and when each jeep rolled out, and then compare them.

I don't think they have different spring rates for steel bumpers, I believe it's just a part number change based on a revision.

Beautiful - exact setup I have on order. Could you do me a huge favor and measure the height to the highest point of the soft top (looks like behind rear doors)? Looking at the picture it doesn't look like you could get it in your garage, so I am concerned that I might not clear mine now. No one has been able to provide a measurement yet with the soft top. Thanks!

I just got to work for the night, as long as I remember, I'll get you a measurement in the morning where that middle bow is on the soft top.

The soft top definitely is a bit taller than the hard top.

Ultimate plan is a 3.5" lift(nets about 2.5" on the XR) and 37s on the OEM beadlocks. But that's a few years down the road, right now just looking at a few interior accs.

Has anyone identified if the parts for mounting the spare, including the mount, camara extension and rubber bumpers are potentially different, since the wheels appear to have a different offset? Thanks!
