It doesn't need to be $5k...Shocks have been made to mount like that for several decades, that was the reason colored boots came out in the 80's...now when performance came into the picture shocks got flipped over for several reasons.
1 being tire clearance with the huge tubes bypass runners and reservoirs taking up space.
2 they learned unsprung wt was easier to control.
I agree with too much front stops
But, I am sick of hearing about every lift that costs less than $5k is junk, thats straight up bullshit...for uninformed folks what is junk and why?
But geometry needs to be addressed. At the minimum with relocation brackets, or better yet front lower control arms and track bars.
I think my lift was around $2k with nice Bilsteins and it drives great.
