You do you and what you want.
But here is what I have done.
  • 35x12.5 tires
  • 17x9 with -12mm offset and 4.5 back spacing
  • Rubicon Express 2.5" lift kit with shocks. I upgrade to the Fox shocks over the RE monotube.
All on a 2021 Sahara. 1st picture is 35" tires with no lift and 2nd picture is with lift.

Thank you, Blnewt. I’ll check it out. Does it matter if the springs are the same number for the left and right?
Most sets have different spring #s, the passenger side gets the larger number, some sets are off by 1 and some sets 2. One of my pairs is a 59/61 and the other is a 90/91. This results in about a 2" lift on a 2dr and 1.5 on a 4dr (typically) but YMMV.

This is very helpful. Thank you!! I’ll worry about the strain in their eyes when they help me pay for the Jeep. LoL
You wont have to worry about that. You live in NJ. Prime mall crawling wilderness, best in class. 20in wheels are the way to go. Dont waste money on a real lift, just get spacers. Have fun.

I see most sets have the numbers like you describe but I bought a Rubicon takeoff set that has Two 3661AD and Two 3591AA. So both front and back springs have the same number.

Shouldn't notice much of a change w/ the naked eye, get out a tape measure and you might be off a 1/4" side to side w/ a full tank of gas, and maybe a bit more when it's almost empty. Should net you a nice lift FWIW.

Have heard that swapping to Rubicon fenders will allow 35" tires full articulation on stock rims without a lift. Would be the way I'd go and the only way my wife would be able to get in the jeep. Search around for Rubicon suspension take offs and the mod's are cheap.

You'll get upper fender clearance going that route (and they look better :) ), but keep in mind the Rubicons have 1.5" wider axles so the area that is still a concern for non-Rubicons is the inner fender area and the suspension components. You can extend the bump stops and there's a DIY washer fix that takes some of the turning radius away so you won't make contact going to full lock w/ your steering, so there are options.

35’s will rub in the back with no lift given uneven road conditions. Ran that setup for 4 weeks before I said enough. Got the spacer lift from Teraflex, and steering got real squirrely. Problem was the caster fixed with the teraflex sport lower control arms.

35s are 50 lbs heavier than what came on my sport stock. Expect to replace everything up front 2x faster (not more, faster) because of the upgrade.

if you are going for looks only, never wheeling, you will likely get away with it for longer, just remember you need to upgrade at some point (more than likely your Jeep will tell you when).

After your lift and tires check out the improved linkages from Steer Smarts or Metal Cloak. They will be the right upgrade once things break.

Yes, what lift did you put in? Also did you change any other components like the track bar, sway bar, etc?
