Several folks from NC made the trek to Windrock this past weekend including @conFUcius, @Taznc, @foxswimmer, and several others. We met Friday morning at the General Store and wheeled most of the day and then wheeled again on Saturday. The weather was cool and foggy but the rain held off the entire time we were on the trail.

Friday was an interesting day. A JK in our group attempted a hill climb and 3 wheeled at the top. The angle caused him to dump oil into the engine and likely vapor locked it when he shut it down. After trying to restart it, he fried the starter. I ended up towing him back to the trail head where we waited for a trailer. He ended up finding a 24 hour off-road shop to diagnose and repair his Jeep.

He made it back on the trail by 11am on Saturday. We had another fun and mud filled day.

Saturday, I met a a guy at the General Store who said he was on the forum but I didn’t catch his name. He was with a friend in a 1500. We passed them on the trail and noticed the 1500 was missing one of his side steps. Hopefully, he will see this post and let us know how he and his friend faired.

I got to watch folks with little wheeling experience become more and more confident with each mile that passed.

Overall, it was a fun weekend with old friends and new.

Awesome. Wife is a bit short to get in the car with a lift and bigger tires but want something that still acts as a true slider without steps to get caught. Appreciate it and glad y’all had fun

I absolutely love mine. I use them as a step all the time and they’ve taken everything I’ve thrown at them. @Taznc has them on his JT and a saw him hit his drivers side slider when he slipped off a rock. Full weight of the JT and it held firm.

@thrasher Oh yeah I love the ACE sliders. Mine have been used several times and they are not dented or anything. I've had to paint them and it's time to paint them again. They touch up really well with Rust-Oleum Truck Bed spray paint. Also, I use them all the time as a step as well and they are great for that.

Fried starter was the extent of his issues. He’s probably got the necessary motivation to install the catch can that’s been sitting in his garage for months.

Not so bad I guess. Looks like y'all had a blast otherwise.
