I have been running Nitto Trail Grapplers in a 275/75R18 or 33.5" tall tire. I have them on stock 70th Anniversary Sahara 18s. They have over 85K miles on them and still are a good tire this winter with 40% tread left. These narrow tires are good in snow and seem to wear great from my experience. This locks me into this tire.
I am waiting for the diesel JLUR and will very likely move up to a 35" tire. Seems like most all are 12.5" wide which really increases the weight. Also, it seems a 315 or 13" wide tire should be on something wider them a 7.5" rim (widest factory).
17" NTG that are 35" include: 315/70 (13" wide) or the 35x12.5 (13") and weigh near 80lbs.
If I go to a 18" rim the 35" NTG include 285/75 (11.3" wide) or the 35x11.5 (11.4" wide) both these are around or under 70 lbs.
I am OK with the look of the JL Rubicon rims but love the simulated bead lock Mopar rim....but 17".
So I will either keep the factory 17" and go with the 285/75R (34" tall) or move to 18" rims and go with the 285/75R for a 35" tall.
Decision.....decisions.
