My woman needs a new vacuum. What to get?

We've tried the newer "high tech" things and they just didn't measure up. The laws of physics don't change for marketeers. They come up with snazzy commercials, but can't overturn fluid dynamics.

We love our Dysons despite the fact long-term durability is an issue.

When my first Dyson broke we bought a Shark. The suction was amazing BUT filtering was horrible. About 2 months after getting the Shark my yellow lab started having horrible skin issues and lost much of her fur. After spending thousands on testing, medications, special foods, etc. we got a new Dyson on a hunch I had. After 2 months her skin issues were gone and never came back. No scientific evidence but this proved to me that the Shark was not filtering dust mites.

My only other suggestion would be avoiding a vacuum as a Valentines Day gift

Shark cordless, 2 Dyson pet cordless, roomba in the house. Bought the second dyson to leave in our camper but the wife decided the Shark would be best for camper due to the short battery life compared to the dysons. Room a was always our mainstay until it decided to make a Picasso painting in the house (sensor does not pick up dog crisp on the floor). It was KIA. Our Dysons do well (as said before, non replaceable battery is my issue with them). I also have a Milwaukee M18 Hepa vac that does well. Never an issue with battery power since i have multiple batteries.

I have yet to find a vac that will get Husky and GSD hair out of vehicle carpet.
