My JLUR is very comfortable and stable at 90. If I wish to go faster, I opt for 2 wheels or American Muscle.

How is 98 the top speed? The other day I passed my dad at 176kmh(109) , felt like it still had lots of acceleration left. My spedometer isnt calibrated from the bigger tires so perhaps thats the only reason I can get going faster... im not sure. Either way, I dont trust high speed in jeeps. I went around a corner at about the same speed on the highway and my front end had a big pop and my front tire felt like it was starting to jump a little bit.

Why is this even a thing. Ive been seeing this Jeep hitting 98 or whatever pretty often lately on the forums. It is a brick on wheels, whats the obsession with hitting high speeds? And what is this dude buying a new jeep every month. How does that even work? What world is this? This post is like some willy wonka land or some weird parallel dimension.

My '20 JTR spends a lot of time at those speeds. So does my sons JLU.

Sometimes a little faster.

Wow Scott where is that? Texas? Here in Left Pussified NY state when I go to the country it’s about 2/3 65mph and 1/3 55mph. I heard of someone getting a speeding ticket for 65 in a 55 open highway which I think is a s-bag move on the cop. I use 4th gear if I drive in the 50’s. If I stuck to 55 I’d have 2 gears that I never use. I mind as well get a horse and carriage.

I feel like everybody here is driving a completely different vehicle than me. I’ve got a sport on 34” K02s that gets up to 110+ mph, and feels smooth doing it. not sure what any of you guys mean saying that you get uncomfortable at 70+ mph. 🤷‍♂️
I don’t know if anyone was uncomfortable at 70+ but maybe more like 90+. As far as doing 110 with a Jeep I hope you do know that if you have to swerve at that speed, your “smooth” is going to be more like a rock rolling down a mountain.

I drive 75 tops and I’m still worried about a deer running out. Plus so many folks in this forum buy bare bone Jeep’s because they’re on budget. Does $5k a year liability insurance fit your budget because of speeding tickets?

I love the Wrangler for what it is. Anyone looking for more top end bought the wrong vehicle. It's not a Mercedes G, Trailhawk, GC, Defender. It gets the job done for what it was designed to do. 97 mph-100 mph is MORE than enough for a Wrangler.

I can't speak for anything modified but my bone stock JLR 2.0T had plenty of pull and go at the upper end of it's limits. The ZF8-speed is a EXCELLENT match to that engine. Not performance car fast but I suspect it was on par with a lot of other common SUVs? It was effortless going from 75 to 85 or 90. It definitely gets the job done. It's not uncommon to be driving at 75-85 mph when speed limits are 70 or 75. My JLR was reasonably stable at 75-85 as long as there was no abnormally high gust of wind. I saw 90 a few times while passing. It pulled to 90 without much effort. I did not realize I was so close to the speed limiter.

Driving a Rubicon. Its limited at 98. If for some strange reason you want top speed, buy a base Sport.
Or any other Jeep model made. A Renegade will get you to 115 mph. lol.

Your right getting there is one thing. God forbid the dreaded death wobble shows up at 100. There's going to be quite a bill for seat cleaning if it does.

Yes this is right outside of Austin. Toll road 130. People generally drive much faster than the posted limit as well, and the police don't seem to care. I lived in upstate NY for a few years, my condolences on your current situation.
