Goose Gear hasn't come up with a rear plate system for the 2 door yet so I made this our of simple 3/4" plywood. added one and a quarter inch rise (added small blocks to the underside of the plywood) to the part of the plywood closest to the seats to make it level, secured it with thick cable ties. painted it black. I will attach the fridge slide to this. It looks really good and I'm pretty happy with it. very secure.

Now if I could only find a rear cargo shelf to give me more space!

Nice!! I see that you’ve stained it and it looks great!

I would do the same thing minus the stain and put a satin or vinyl overlay and add some of these corner caps to the corners so the points don’t mess up anything:

Just an idea for you:

This fake grass overlay looks good and comes in different colors. I’ve seen people use it as plywood overlay in their boats haha

If your talking about a shelf, that implies ABOVE the floor, right ? So in other threads there are Vendors - Vector & FrontRunner come to mind - that I have bookmarked their websites for the same reason - a # of others too; a general google search will keep you occupied for hours - the choices just seem to get better as time goes on ! good times for Jeepers !

Nice.

I used truck bed liner for mine. I just didn’t want to spend that much on a Goose Gear one just yet.

NICE Initiative :like: . . . wish I had the space, tools and wood working skills to tackle this . . . luckily there are a # of "wood shops" within striking distance of me to call & go assess the possibilities for having it done "My Way" ! My Way would be similar to Goose Gear's, and may also be of the high quality Birch plywood or up it to a 1/2" marine quality Ply ! Nice job on the use of the boat hatch for access ! I plan to remove the rear seats (both sides) so I have room for the Fridge ( ironically same ARB or one that actually has 2 storage compartments (cold & freeze) on their slide or a Tembo Tusk double slide (fridge & stove combo) ! I want to have enough room to where I can sleep too. My storage needs will most likely be on the outside on my StowAway2 Brand swing away tow hitch storage tray - Great product out of Oregon (just south of Portland . much more aerodynamic than loading up things on a roof rack. Eventually I may opt to do that and get a popup tent, but not right away ! :) If I could just win some lottery, I would get the Ursa Minor Pop-Up ! But can't win if I don't play . . . and I don't, ugh !

I am putting something together similar to your build and I had a question. With the plywood sitting over the cover for the jack, are you able to remove the cover to get into the jack area?

No. The plywood is zip tied to the seat hooks and tie down rings. Good idea but the fridge slider is secured to the floor above the opening for the jack. I would have to remove the plywood to get to the jack.

To be honest I haven’t really tried. I believe the cover is a little pinched because I have the platform bolted down. If I need access I can just loosen up the screws with the tool kit I have in the storage well.

You did a great job on your base. I plan to do something similar on my 2-door. Can you explain how you secured it to the vehicle, what drawer you used, etc.

Thanks. Pretty easy, just made a paper template and transferred it to 3/4” plywood. Covered it with a spray can bed liner and used the 6 factory tie down bolts to secure it. The fridge slide is a manufactured part and the hatch is a marine hatch I found on Amazon to access the cubby.
