LOL, it certainly appears that way.

I find myself wheeling alone in very remote places more and more these days. Needed something as an "insurance policy", for when I get in a bind. I wanted a setup where I could pull from the back or front, depending on the situation.

Total weight came in at 68.5 pounds. Since its not bulky weight, its very easy to move from front to back and etc. It will stay in the garage mon-fri while I'm at work, then I will put it on during weekends when I head out messing around in the Jeep.

For my situation, I think this type of setup is ideal.

I am considering a similar set up. Could you provide details of how you ran the power connections?

I bought two 7.5' Warn cables with quick disconnects on the end of each one. One is attached to the winch and the other one is attached to the battery. With this setup I can easily reach the back or front.

The lead attached to the Winch wraps nicely around it and is secured with a zip tie. My cover still fits nicely over the Winch.

Heres a better pic of the lead wrapped around the Winch and secured with Zip Ties.

This setup gives me 15' of electrical cable. Plenty for a 2 door like mine.

that is a good way to do it. As I have a 4 door I am concerned that might not be enough cable. Looks like I need to do some measuring. Do you have the curt receiver mount in the front?

It is, I installed it yesterday. Very good quality and easy to install. I also bought the Curt winch plate. It has a miniature skid plate welded on the bottom of it. I thought that was kinda cool.

is that two separate winches or one that you swap from front to back?

And if one where are you mounting it?

Its one and the same Winch.

I installed a Hitch Receiver in the front of the Jeep and that is where it connects to the front, in the back it slides into the rear Hitch Receiver.

Tested the winch today up in the mountains. I wasn't stuck, just picked a spot and wanted to see how it would pull. The pic doesnt do it justice, I pulled the Jeep for about 70' and over two rocks and thru a couple of crusted snow drifts. Winch did awesome.

Even with the new winch set up, I hit a spot on the trail where the snow drifts were about 3 feet deep. Figured winch or no winch, time to turn around. Cant use a winch to drive me thru miles of that crap. LOL.

My dad built me the blue stake, its 3' long and sharpened at the tip. A lot of the country around here is tree less. Sage brush flats, desert canyons, that sort of stuff.

He uses metal stakes on his side by side winch. We are not sure if ithis type of set up will will work or not on a Jeep. I plan on doing some test in the near future. The soil here in the Rocky Mountain Region is very, very rocky, hence the name.

I'm hoping once I can find a spot on the ground to drive the stake, it will be strong enough to support the weight of the Jeep. Even driving a tent peg around here can be a chore. The rocky soil should provide enough support to pull the Jeep. This is my hope at least.

I was able to test the stake out today. Happy to report; it works!!!

I tested it out in a dry creek bed with a slight uphill pull. Only pounded the stake in the ground about 16".

It was pulling to easy, so I grabbed the biggest rock I could find and placed it under the tire. For a brief second the stake started to shift, then held firm and the winch pulled the Jeep over the rock.

I'm confident now this setup will work when no trees or boulders are in the immediate area. If needed, I could always drive the stake deeper into the earth.

Very curious on the stake setup.
Pound in at and angle and that's it?
