What’s up guys I’m new to the forum, I’ve had my Jeep since Jan of 2018. I was wondering if everyone is having the same issue as me. I did see a few but here’s a list I’ve made 1. steering wheel wanders but the dealership states it’s a Jeep thing and that it’s normal! I was driving to poconos, PA from New York and my arm was so sore from adjusting the steering wheel over and over. 2. This summer while I was driving I would hear a small rattle/gargling noise between gears three and four. 3. When I press the button on my keyless entry, the door doesn’t respond it will take a couple of tries until it locks the door.

This question doesn’t have to do anything regarding the car but I purchased the car from bayside Jeep due to them not having the v41 recall part I made a appointment with another dealership. I have the Jeep wave however when I asked about the loaner car they said I purchased the car from another dealership I don’t qualify any inputs on this?

I would go to another dealer and/or contact JeepCares. My JLU has never been to the dealer where it was purchased since I drove off of their lot on the day I picked it up. My local dealer has always done the free oil changes, tire rotations, and given me a loaner when it has been in for service, recalls, etc. If I am correct, Jeep Wave is a Jeep program, not a dealer specific program. I think that you are dealing with a service department that could care less about customer service.

I agree I've never been back to the dealer I purchased mine from and the other local dealers have no problem giving me my free oil changes. Now getting them to warranty anything is another story...

I purchased a 2018 JL Rubicon and I'll never forget the day I drove it home from the dealer. The damn thing was ALL over the road and driving it felt like a chore. That was late October 2018, and I now have about 22K on it. Since then the vehicle has been lifted with new suspension, 35" tires, and a new terra flex nexus 2.2 stabilizers installed. I'm very happy with how my vehicle drives these days, and I can say that my two cents are the following"

Tire pressure, please make sure all tires are adequately filled, and all equal. Mine, from the dealer driving it home, was all over the place as far as pressure. Adjusting that to a proper level (35psi) made a very significant difference.

The OEM stabilizer is crap. Just my opinion. I'm very happy with the Teraflex unit that I installed. It makes the most difference on the highway where the tires are now much less susceptible to being pulled around by imperfections in the highway. Made my jeep feel much more stable. If you drive back roads, or slower speed roads the investment in the stabilizer will not make too much of a difference. More of quality of life add for higher speeds.

The OEM bushings in the tie rod, drag link up to the pitman arm are just junk. That's why there's a dead spot in the center with about an inch of play. I plan on replacing those components at some point, but I will point out that FCA has gone through several revisions on the stabilizer since taking delivery of my vehicle, so likely you have a newer model. That said, I just don't believe the quality of the OEM suspension (including that stabilizer) are up to snuff on any level. It's possible that they updated the bushings on the tie-rod, and drag link bars as I mentioned, but I'm not up on all of the latest.

To another's comments, I refuse to go back to the dealer. I just don't want to put up with their BS. I'll fix any issues, as I've done thus far myself, short of any major electrical or engine-related issues. But I've had none. Just my 2 cents worth.

So I dropped of my JL to get some issues fixed. I test drove with the tech due to them not being able to duplicate the symptoms. The tech heard the rattling noise underneath the car and told me it must be the exhaust, also saw how the radio volume would jump from min to max under Apple car play, and as far as the steering play he kept telling me it’s the road conditions.. NONE OF THE ISSUES WERE RESOLVED! They wrote on the invoice that the problems couldn’t be duplicated. I spoke with the advisor and he told me they connect doesn’t have an update so I would have to wait and as far as the rattle that they torqued down all the bolts and nuts. When I also got the damn car back it looked like they went off-roading with mud and dirt all over the car. They even unplugged my dash cam...

My Sport 2 door was the same when new Oct 2018. Dealer modded with spacer lift, and 305/65 MTZ mud tires and new wheels, which is why i liked it and looked better than a stock rubicon.
Tires were 40-45 psi and none were equal PSI when i drove it home.

Lowered the tire PSI to 30, put on better shocks, and changed the stock steering stab (junk) to an adjustable Falcon EF 2.2.
Big improvement. I can live with it. Colder weather seems to reduce the slop in the steering a bit also.

I have had a significant amount of rattling recently and I am unable to identify the problem. I have been underneath looking for loose components with no success. I plan on making it to the dealer service department in the next couple of days. The rattling occurs while driving over bumpy roads at or over 10 to 15 mph. I cant seem to recreate the rattle unless i am driving which makes it hard to find. It seems to be coming from the front end suspension but everything is tight. We do have a 2.5 Rubicon Express installed and 35 inch tires but it has been fine up until the past week or so. Has anyone had any similar issues?

Update to this: Located what I think is the source of the noise and it seemed to be the bushings on the front shocks were failing. You simply could not tell by grabbing the shock of pushing down on the bumper. I had to park the front on ramps and push the body up with my legs to cause the suspension to droop and recoil rapidly in order to duplicate the problem. It was an easy find after that. I'll update after the new bushings are installed.

It turns out that the entire shock mount was broken on one side. I need to take it to the dealer for repairs. How common is this kind of component failure?

Hi Gremlin,
As our team is not mechanically trained, we would be unable to speculate on what caused your concern versus other customers. As stated previously, should you need any assistance while working with your dealer, please send us a PM.

We have been to the dealer and they will not cover the issue. Our extended warranty will not cover the problem either. I am not sure why Jeep does not stand by their products. This was clearly a manufacturing flaw and no one will touch it. We had to pay a diagnostic fee for what we knew already just to find out that we are responsible for this problem. It is amazing to me that my warranty I purchased and Chrysler refuse to stand behind their product when there was clearly an underlying problem. The fact that I am responsible for frame work on a not even 2 year old vehicle that is a daily driver is disgusting to me.
