MPG and Range on the Ecodiesel

Hi guys my first post on the forum. I have a new JLUR ecodiesel and I do all highway driving and my overall average is at best 23mpg if I baby it. I have a range of 342miles. I notice under light acceleration or slight inclines I get 10 or lower. Is this normal?I hear people getting better on bigger tires and I’m stock for now.

I have a 2021 JLURD with roughly 8Kmi and I'm also getting roughly around 23mpg on the highway but I'm doing between 75-85mph, so I'm assuming for me, that's the cause. Is your JLURD a 2021? How many miles do you have on it? My father has a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Eco Diesel and he said he's averaging around 26mpg, but he drives like an old man and in MA the speed limits are between 55-65mph

Driving 55 - 65 mph in my case gives the best mpg on hway.
With 3 regens in its life of 2500 miles, my average is 27 mpg. My average is getting better as it is getting broken in. I was doing 23 too in the first three weeks but gradually started to get better even though the driving pattern and hway to street driving ratio has not changed.

Also, this is what the manual says about improving efficiency over time:

You need to hand calculate. You can't really go by the display, it might be close but it won't be as accurate as hand calculating over a number of tanks. If you keep track over time, you will see what kind of mileage it actually gets.

I have a 2021 with 1100 miles on it. I drive 100 miles of highway daily. My average reads 21-23mpg. If there is a slight grade or I accelerate slightly to 2k rpm it drops to single digits. My 2 door jk 3.6 6 spd averages 21 mpg with the same highway route driving 85mph. I tried driving speed limit with the diesel and I got 23mpg at best. I’m taking it in tomorrow.

what is the range you guys are getting on the display?

I drive 27 miles to work (each direction). 25 miles of this is all freeway doing 68-72 mph I'm averaging 29.8 MPG. This is according to the computer.

what is the range you guys are getting on the display?

When it was warmer I was getting 23-24 at 80 mph. With these 0-10 degree temperatures and warming it up in the morning, my last tank was 17.5 on the display. I have notice the mileage goes up significantly above 32 degrees.

I'm doing 95% city driving and 5% highway... 23 mpg is my average. On my all highway original trip I was at just over 31 mpg

15,000 on a 2020, I can get 27 day in and day out. 30's upon rare occasion, 16 pulling a 19' travel trailer...worse ever was 14 pulling with a horrible head wind...
Stock tires on Mopar wheels everything else is stock...

I drive almost exclusively around town with a lot of short trips. I average 19 mpg on 35s. That is 5 mpg better than my JKR on 35s, which is exactly the delta in the EPA ratings of the two Jeeps. Recently, I took an all highway, 25 mile trip, and averaged 27 mpg.

So you see the regens happen while you are making short trips?

I noticed in my Jeep 3 days ago (I did not have my Scangauge wired yet, just using on and off) that when I pulled into my garage, the exhaust was blowing very hot. I knew a regen was occurring but I shut the engine off anyway after letting idle for a minute. Next day I started my engine, I plugged in the Scangauge, and sure enough there was a regen as my number increased from 2 to 3 since I checked a week ago. My STM reading showed 39%. I drove a couple of days with the Scangauge plugged in but it didn't start the regen again even though I did interrupt it. STM reading today is at 45. So I guess it will start the regen again when soot mass reaches 80.

So this is cool. It will go into active regen when it senses soot mass get to 80 in the DPF filter and even if it partially completes the regen, it will wait till it reaches 80% again.

On my 24 mile highway drive today, I started from the driveway with STM at 45%, it went up to 47% till the time I reached the freeway entrance, and by the time I pulled came back home to my driveway, it went down back to 45%. So my net increase was 0 as it burned off 2% through passive regen. My DPF temp peaked to 650F max.

I have a 2020 Sport that I got in June 2020, it just accumulated 38000 miles. I drive 260 miles daily all highway. I will get 36 mpg hand calculated in the warmer months. Now that it is colder I am getting 32 to 33 mpg. I drive between 62 to 65 mph.

Just completed a 2800 mile trip to Oklahoma City and back. Driving at posted highway speeds I averaged 31 mpg. I filled up around a half tank and 300 to 320 miles. I have seen the dash show a range of 620 miles till empty.

The math says you have about a 15 gallon tank. Is that right?

When I first got mine we were out in Idaho. Long runs to sightsee (and a lot of off road) were common and I was averaging around 27-28. Back home (now with an extra 300 lbs of rock rails, bumpers and winch) and taking mostly short hops, I'm down to around 22-23. Might also be due to the Hikeit throttle control and a heavy foot.

My experience echoes yours. My regens start at 80% and drop it down to 10%. If I interrupt the process, it won't recur until it reaches 80% again. Two other random observations:

• Recently I was running an errand when a regen started. I experimented by leaving the Jeep running, locking the door, and running in to pick up my lunch - hoping the process would continue. It was still showing "on" when I exited the truck. Five minutes later, when I returned to the parking lot, the regen had stopped at some point midstream. Maybe as soon as I locked the door?
• On two occasions the regen seemed to "get stuck" at a lower level, like 40%, and wouldn't drop any further. When I stopped the Jeep, the level immediately dropped to 10%. Not sure if it was a Scangauge issue or a Jeep issue as to why the display froze.
