BTW, how do u mount your surf rods to the bike mount??
the bike rack is used to carry sand chairs and umbrellas for beach duty.
Surf rods go in a rod rack that attaches to the front receiver hitch.

somewhat, but is not the best. I don't rely on it at all, just the old fashioned way of turning around and looking!
Sweet thanks!

l’ve got the same bike carrier as you, got it new for $140. Well worth cutting the tire carrier IMHO

I’m working on a mount for the camera now, looks like it may work. The one pictured is a prototype the new one is similar but with a longer & angled neck to get the cam out past the rim.

I could use the one pictured, if I can figure out how to epoxy the OEM plastic cam mount tube to this sheet metal. That oem tube has the perfect downward angle so if I attach it to the mount in the pic, it would work great. But attaching metal to plastic , not easy...I’m looking for the right epoxy.

Hope to have a solution tomorrow, will post when finished.

Thanks for the info!

Hoping this holds, Are used a JB Weld Epoxy that’s especially for bonding plastic to metal.

Testing it now to see if paint will stick to the epoxy, Going to paint this going to paint this a metallic gray to blend in with the stock wheels before I put it on the car.

If it works, this will be the final solution for me... If not I’ll keep the long angulated metal version.

I have a Mopar Freedom Panel carrier from my JK, it has the same mounting plate set up. Making a mounting plate for the rear camera so it can be moved to more than one location is a great idea !

It’s done!
The epoxy feels rock solid, the view is unobstructed, like OEM.

I’ll put all the steps in a separate Posting here as a DIY

Thanks for the idea! I need to move my license plate into this are due to an aftermarket bumper, I may use this strategy to move the camera and add fasteners for my license plate.

Nice! I did some mods to my Thule to make it work. Hated that I had it sitting in the garage collecting dust and was too cheap to just buy a new rack!

Don't know that it would work with the upgraded Sahara wheels though.

Yours is an old post now. I have this same Thule bike rack and I LOVE your mounting solution!! Can you post the details of what you did/fabricated/changed to move the Thule mounting plate please? Thanks so much in advance!

Thank you! I actually did a decent write up with the details and a template...

Let me know if you have any questions on it. It seems to have held up for 2 years so far!

No Problem! You could probably do it just fine with a jug saw and metal blade. I bought some cheap step bits from Amazon that helped quite a bit with the various holes.

Good luck!
Great thanks a lot!
