I have a Mopar Freedom Panel carrier from my JK, it has the same mounting plate set up. Making a mounting plate for the rear camera so it can be moved to more than one location is a great idea !
It’s done!Hoping this holds, Are used a JB Weld Epoxy that’s especially for bonding plastic to metal.
Thanks for the idea! I need to move my license plate into this are due to an aftermarket bumper, I may use this strategy to move the camera and add fasteners for my license plate. It’s done!
The epoxy feels rock solid, the view is unobstructed, like OEM.
I’ll put all the steps in a separate Posting here as a DIY
good luck to you, hope the pics help. Thanks for the idea! I need to move my license plate into this are due to an aftermarket bumper, I may use this strategy to move the camera and add fasteners for my license plate.
Yours is an old post now. I have this same Thule bike rack and I LOVE your mounting solution!! Can you post the details of what you did/fabricated/changed to move the Thule mounting plate please? Thanks so much in advance!Nice! I did some mods to my Thule to make it work. Hated that I had it sitting in the garage collecting dust and was too cheap to just buy a new rack!
Don't know that it would work with the upgraded Sahara wheels though.
Thank you! I actually did a decent write up with the details and a template...Yours is an old post now. I have this same Thule bike rack and I LOVE your mounting solution!! Thank you so much! I just picked up a piece of 3/16” steel plate. I don’t have a die grinder to cut it but I’m gonna try using the tools that I have.Thank you! I actually did a decent write up with the details and a template...

Let me know if you have any questions on it. It seems to have held up for 2 years so far!
Great thanks a lot!No Problem! You could probably do it just fine with a jug saw and metal blade. I bought some cheap step bits from Amazon that helped quite a bit with the various holes.
Good luck!
