I know many folks use the hand held radios while on the trail and so do I and so do several in the group that I go on the trail with. I have a 2020 JLU and I have been searching for a good place to mount or hold the radio while on the trail. Keeping it in the cup holder is getting old.

To clarify my current set up, I have two 67 designs mount balls, a left and right, that are mounted in the compartment on top of the dash. These are used for my Go-Pro and IPAD Air (I use it for mapping purposes).

I have looked at the grab bar ball mount from CMM and the radio holder from jeepuniq and finally a small arm from 67 designs.

The problem with this setup is that the radio sets further away from me than I like.

I looked around on CMM and I found a ball mount that mounts on the top or bottom of either of the front entry assist grab bars. Exactly where I would like the radio mounted.

HOWEVER, with the single ball mount is $100 with shipping!

Mounting the radio on the entry assist grab bar results in 3 different vendors and a total price of $214.00.

Holy shit!

Does anyone have any other options of mounting a hand held radio either on or in the general area of the drivers side entry assist grab bar?

they have an inexpensive mount that I utilize that gives me the versatility to place the mount in a broad range across the width of the dash. This could possibly allow you to keep all of your items together centralized on the dash.

I have one and I think it works well.

If you donā€™t see what you are looking for in their site, Iā€™d recommend reaching out to them. They could possibly help you come up with a solution. Good luck!!!

Iā€™m doing this as well and have been leaning towards something that will hold my handheld by the belt clip. I havenā€™t looked into it much, but it should be fairly easy to figure out something that will work with my 67 designs rail or the dash.

Iā€™m very pleased with the CMM mount and supporting a small business. Just waiting on the JeepUniq mount for my MXT275 since I added another RAM ball mount to the CMM one on the grab bar.
