ARB, I believe, makes a bracket to mount their compressors in this location. I did not find any generic brackets so I made my own. Besides ARB wants over $100 for thier bracket.

The bracket is big enough for a larger compressor in the future. I ran an 8 gage wire from the battery, with 50 amp fuse at the battery. 30 amp fuse at the compressor. Should be plenty of juice.

I've thought about doing the same thing. I have a Smittybuilt that I'd like to mount and forget about.

I put the wire in a convoluted tube, ran it from the battery across the cowl, over the brake booster and down under the Jeep. Tied it off to the brake lines. Came up behind the left rear inner fender to the top of the wheel well. Made a 1/2" hole in the top of the wheel well, put a grommet in the hole, and ran the wire through.
