Finally detailed the Jeep myself. I washed it once or twice at a self serve wash and had it hand washed and waxed maybe 2-3 times too in the year that I’ve had it.
I finally spent some money on a foam cannon, clay bar, wash mitt, etc and did it all myself. It cost me the same as paying somebody to detail it once.
I used Mother’s CMX Prep and CMX Coating. I did quite a bit of reading online before I chose CMX.
I have to say that I’m very happy with the result. Application was fairly straight forward and easy. It’s designed to be used at home and outdoors by regular owners. I’m very pleased with the results and gloss. It’s not quite as glossy and wet looking as using carnuba in several coats with a buffer but I expect it to hold up much much better over time. After the first coat I allowed it to cure for 24 hours then applied a second coat. I’ll post a follow up after it’s been on for a while through some rain and dirt.
Also, shout out to Mothers customer service and technical support.
