More power/torque from 4WD (4H or 4H Part Time)?

Will you get more power/torque by having the 4xe in 4H or 4H PT while daily driving on the streets? Other than fuel economy, any negatives of driving pavement this way?

Read the manual. PT 4WD locks the front and rear axles so they turn the same speed. When turning the front and rear wheels travel a different radius. This causes binding in PT 4WD, extra wear and stress on the drive train. PT 4WD is for low traction situations.

You can keep it in 4H Auto on the street. If you start losing traction in the rear, the front will engage. That can come in handy with the 4xe if you really get on it ;-)

Thanks. So is there a difference between 4H and Part time? Specifically as it relates to street driving and power

You don't ever want to use 4H Part Time or 4L on dry roads with high traction. The wheels need to have some slip/low traction to operate. 4H part time also has a speed limit but I forget what it is.

In my opinion, 4H Part Time should be called 4H Full Time. It causes some confusion, lol.

2H is most efficient for normal driving, 4H auto will help with 0 to 60 times. Power is still the same, it's just able to be applied better.

it's good to do a bunch of reading on the transfer case, watch some YouTube videos, etc. It can get confusing because most Wranglers don't have the 4H Auto option.

it's also good to practice getting In and out of 4L before you really need it. I'd not do it on dry asphalt though.

4H Auto: "Auto"-matically engages the front wheels when then rear wheels start to slip. Thus the name. You don't get any more power per say, but if you start to lose traction in the rear, you can gain it in the front. It's not going to act like an AWD car where it's putting power down to the front and rear constantly for more spirited driving/launches, though it will help in that scenario by shifting power to the front if you break traction in the rear.

4 HI Part Time is something you only want to use "Part TIme"... when you're not on solid surfaces for reasons stated above. This shouldn't be used for street driving.
