Yes
Anyone know if the MC shock relocation brackets will work with the XR wheels? I've found different threads about backspacing on the wheels. Specifically the 2022 Rubi XR wheels.

,

yes, @Jeepeto has confirmed his work with the XR wheels

my 2022 Rubi with XR package is in shipping, due to dealer next week. Should have it in hand around the end ofJan. Then starts all the mods.

need some warm weather in NH to paint parts.

I didn’t check if I was fully stuffed onto the bump stop but this is more or less how much flex the XR can achieve with 26.5” length front shocks. More than stock but not as much as running 30” shocks, relocation brackets, and a front driveshaft like a full MC lift kit.

P.S. i suggest a adams driveshaft with 1310s(keep the weakpoint on a driveshaft ujoint), besides, you can get a adams out the door for right around 500$(few discount codes out there).

And yea, i asked jeepeto on his build page if he's using the front relocation brackets or if he's bolted in the stock bracket.

Due to the XR having the wide axles, it may be possible to run the bracket up front with 4.5+ backspace.

From searching:

" 68" wide, this is 1.5" wider than the JL Sport/Sport S/Sahara, and 2.5" wider than JK axles regardless of trim. "

Which could be the reason. but that was for standard rubi axles.

This is all very interesting. Oddly enough I had almost 4-4.5" of uptravel stock in the XR. My stock 35s would STUFF inside the fenders. So much so that I thought it would rub, but it barely cleared.

I added a 1.5" spacer lift and found that I needed 1" of bumpstop to keep 40s out of the fenders. In this pic I am flexed on another 40" tire and my bumpstop is barely touching. I wonder if some XRs are shipping with incorrect coil springs, or bumpstop extensions. Similar to how some XRs are arriving with aluminum rather than cast knuckles.

Also, it should be mentioned the XR coils are very long and will support a 12" travel shock with ease. Remember, majority of travel is based on shock length.

You are running 40s on the stock XR axles? Bold move! Great pics.

To the Jeepers far more experienced and knowledgeable than me, please help!

I’m looking to add a budget lift to my ‘21 Willys, where I might not have to replace the track bars, add a rear track bar relocation bracket, add geometry correction brackets for front LCAs, etc. So, I was thinking about looking into an XR suspension take off.

I currently run a stock Rubicon suspension (I added Rubicon springs to my Willys) and I run the longer front LCAs from the Mopar 2” lift.

My questions for you are as follows:

(1) What exactly do I need from the take off suspension that would be different on an XR than a standard Rubicon suspension (i.e. shocks, springs, end links, anything else?) Are the trackbars different?

(2) What parts would I need to buy in the aftermarket? Since I currently have the Mopar 2” lift kit front LCAs on my Jeep, I wouldn’t need those. But I read that I need 2” bump stops? Is this correct, and would a Teraflex 2” bumpstop kit suffice? Do I need to add anything else? Trying to make an exhaustive list of parts.

(3) Do you think it’d be possible to add after market Fox shocks for a 0”-1.5” lift to the XR components?

Thanks so much for your help!

Guys,

I read all 9 pages, and other threads on the XR up travel, and am still confused... Can anyone help me out.

1) Does my 2021 JLUR XR completely stock, have more or less up travel, and flex, than a completely stock 3.6 JLUR ?

2) Is there any thing simple I can do, to add more up travel, since I don't have the diesel, or 392, I don't need the full length of bump stops to prevent the axle from hitting the engine?

2.1) Can I simply install smaller bump stops, that won't bottom out the shock, and call it a day. for now?

*** Yikes, I cannot say I've seen those comments yet but that's concerning! ***

Theoretically, you should have the same amount of uptravel stock if the springs lift it 1.5" and the bump stops are extended 1.5". But, as the shocks are only 3/4" longer extended, you lose about 3/4" of droop at the shocks.

Since the shocks are 1.5" longer collapsed, you may be able to get away with 1/2" less bump, but after that, your shocks become the bump stops anyways.

Using AnnDee's sticky spreadsheet.
Stock JLUR:

Stock JLURXR (Assuming 1.5 lift, 1.5 bump):

and the bump stops are extended 1.5"
I haven't been able to confirm this... do you have a source?

Using my questionable logic, to me it would make sense if the bump stop was 1" longer due to the specifications on the Mopar lift being just about double what the XR is. The XR is like a halfway point between the Rubicon and the Mopar lift. It slots

RubiconRubicon XRMopar 2" lift
Lift height0"1.5"2"
Actual lift height+/- 0.5"1" - 1.5"2.5" - 3.5"
Tire size33"35"37"
Half tire size increase over Rubicon (what the fender sees)0"1"2"
Bump stop increase over Rubicon0"1"?2"
Shortest usable shock collapsed length16.25"depends on
bump stop length

Front shock collapsed length15.75"16.75" - 17.25"
(conflicting info)
17.5"
Front shock extended length23.6324.38" - 24.75"
(conflicting info)
26.25"
Front shock stroke7.88"7.5" - 7.63"8.75"
Usable front shock stroke7.38"too many unknowns to calculate8"

Negative, I meant for the “if” in that sentence to cover both lift and bump.

There was another thread where the stock XR shock length at ride height measured just over your stock JLR length. Seems to vary.

Teraflex 1" front/rear spring spacers (make up for the steel bumpers and winch), 1/2" bump stop extension and added the front shocks from rancho and I got an additional 4" of down travel while only losing 1/2" of up travel. The front still had 1.5" of down travel available in this pic.

Solid setup, reinforces why you should ignore the specd lift value on shocks!

Maxd out front DS while making sure your bump protected them.
