Mopar Floor Mats - hole in the middle?

So what's the point of the hole in this floor mat? It makes no sense.

Drain plug hole. Supposed to take plug out of floor and put in mat instead

Pocket knife or a pair of sharp scissors to cut the little tabs holding the carpet oval in place, and two minutes and you're done! Just make sure you press the mat down into the plug hole until it pops in place or it won't be sealed right!

Seems a little silly to me. Why not just have or supply extra plugs when you buy the mats?
