Mopar CAI kit installed on JL today. Feedback / review.

How easy then would it be to swap on the snorkel? Looks like it would just bolt right on. Also, what kind of air filter does it use?

The inner piece of the “vent” can be removed and the snorkel will sit in the void it leaves behind. Mopar has made it clear that the snorkel isn’t water tight and is intended simply to provide cleaner, colder, air.

You sure that hood piece doesnt need to be cut?
Nothing in the instructions saying to remove a back piece off the mesh part or something?

I understand the entire piece can be removed to allow for snorkel...but there must be a way to "open" up the back and keep the mesh.

If not, Mopar is falsely advertising this CAI

I'm going to guess the hood "vent" was intended to be open as per the older pictures. After some testing they had to change it for whatever reason and that's why there were a few revisions and delays.

If the hood grill was vented and sealed to the airbox i would order one. I don't think it would be too hard to come up with a way to do that though as a DIY.

I’m going to take a look at it later to see if the vent is 1 or 2 pieces (i.e. a grille and a backing plate). I’ll also get the dealership to hand over the installation instructions on Monday so I can see what they say.

Aha!! I looked again, there is a hinge...I pried the rear cover open and it can stay that way with the hood closed.

Wow, the Mopar CAI now looks like it went from zero to hero! VERY cool! Can't wait to read about how it sounds when open! Looks like you get the best of both worlds with this one! Open for on road, closed for off road!

I wouldn’t mind getting this then getting the snorkel.

I definitely draw the line at cutting my own hood though. Also, my decals would have to be resized and moved at that point.

Found the installation instructions online.

I popped the door off for now....the instructions state you should put it back on when pressure washing, severe weather and water fording.

Neat, does it flap around or can you take the little door off?

Edit: read the instructions and the door comes off. Going to order this, i have no problem cutting my hood and black friday sales are coming.

I closed the hood with the flap open, it seemed fine but it also just pops off so for now it’s off and the flap will live in the glovebox until needed or prudent to put it back on. Will take her for a spin later and see how she sounds/feels.
