Was doing some clearance testing on our mid-width bumper and thought these photos may be of interest:
  • Lift is a Mopar 2" with the kit's bump stop extensions
  • Tires are 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers
  • Wheels are Mamba M14 Intel 17 x 9" with 5.47" backspacing
The only contact point is the grill, so it looks like that will either need to be trimmed, more bump will need to be added, or we will have to take out some steering. All other clearance looks pretty good.

wow! 5.47" backspace for the wheels! That's a big difference in what was needed on the JK, right?

Good afternoon, new to this forum, and new JL owner. Happy to be here. Have had a Jeep Wrangler JK for many years. A little of topic......I was told today by Quadratec, they’re no selling aftermarket wheels for the JL because the lug studs are too big for the current JK aftermarket wheels. I’ve seen many members with new wheels. How is this being accomplished? Thank you for any help

These wheels are for another Jeep and we are using them for testing. But we are pretty shocked how well the backspacing works, at least on the forklift test, offroad is always different.

Full stuff on driver:

Thanks for sharing! All of the pics really show all of the limitations (none of which are reached here it seems, save for possibly the grill). I wonder how the CTI of this setup compares to stock.

Based on this test, what would be the first thing to hit with a larger tire or greater suspension travel?

I can assume more negative backspacing would remedy that rubbing on the grill and I didn't even think 5+" backspacing would fit 37s on a 2" lift! OEM is 4 1/2" I think and I so those bump stops must be helping allot. Is the sway-bar disconnected during this test?

I do like the stance of this setup with the tires poking past the fenders a little.

Wow! I was expecting a lot more rub, especially with that back spacing. Thanks for posting this.

I like! I'm a long ways from moving to 37" and hopefully by that time we'll see how everything holds up (axles, c gussets, ect.)

More backspacing probably won't help the grill issue very much if at all. Factory JL Rubicon backspacing is ~6"

Good info thanks!

I think the general conclusion I've seen of the multiple threads with 37" on the Mopar 2" lift is that it will work if you do not disconnect your swaybars. So if you are a pavement princess, then it gives a great look that a lot will love.

But if you are a serious offroader who will disconnect swaybars and articulate, a 2" lift is not sufficient with 37's.

I'm going with 37's, and I'm thinking about a 3.5" lift (once they become widely available)
