I was close to ordering the GDE tune for my 2018 Trailhawk ecodiesel with that same motor. Then the EPA decided they were cheat devices and shut down the tuning company and the others doing similar work in the USA. Unfortunate, though I'd rather have cleaner air than the little more performance out of my vehicle.
Oooh. Saving earth.

Just curious if any of you guys have deleted the emission on the engine and exhaust.

I have a Co-Worker, who owns a Ram 1500 Diesel, with the same 3.0 Diesel engine as are in the Wranglers. He now has around 50,000 on the engine, and had the engine altered at 5,000 miles. He said his oil now looks clean, at the oil changes, where before, it was black as coal at 50 miles. He said he now gets 33 mpg on combined driving. He stated he now has much more power.
I asked what he had done to it, and was told he had reprogramed the ECM, and blocked off the EGR. He stated he left the Diesel Particle Filter in place, but it doesn't give any issues. He did say he runs Distilled Water in place of the Blue DEF. I don't know all the ins and out of modifying these 3.0 Diesels, but he seems to have done his research.
His truck purrs like a kitten, and is just ever so slightly louder than a gas engine. But, unmodified ones sound the same.

..
Yep it's all true. If you delete all of the exhaust components, block off the EGR valves, and then install a proper tune your diesel will use less fuel (good for the environment), last much longer before being crushed and dumped in a landfill (good for the environment and consumer), oil will last longer between changes (good for the environment), and the truck will perform and drive in a much safer manner, i.e. no more lag and dead pedal (good for the consumer and others on the road).

Unfortunately, the American EPA is hellbent on making life as miserable as possible for both automakers and consumers. Their only focus is the amount of smoke emitting from tail pipes. Meanwhile they conveniently ignore all other aspects.

The Gen 3 engine has only been on the market for less than a year so there are no delete tunes available yet. Some Canadian companies offer stuff so keep your eyes peeled soon. Also, there are U.S. companies working on "legal" tunes that will at least make the engine consume less fuel and run better so 50% of the benefit could still be had.

And...that's a bad thing? I'm certainly not a tree hugger, but I stop short of thumbing my nose at the environment.
you think the 2 million acres burning in CA is doing more in terms of emissions than all the diesels on the road or no?

Absolutely, but you were mocking environmental issues like they were a joke (“oooh”) and that’s not cool.

To answer a previous question, this is a 2018 Ram 1500 Diesel. I dont know what generation 3.0 that was.

To be honest, a lot of "Environmental Issues" are a joke. Just look at Al Gore, and the crap he has pushed, and has made millions doing it.

Tell that to your great-grandchildren. I’m far from being an environmentalist, but I sure don’t think that the damage the human race is doing to the Earth is a “hoax”. Good news is we’ll be gone (I hope) before things get really rough. In just my lifetime, the Earth’s population has more than doubled, and we humans are notoriously hard on the furniture. :)

You must have not paid much attention during your life, otherwise you would have wised up to all those scams we went through. I can go back and remember all of them. Global cooling, acid rain, ozone hole, global warming. Global starvation due to high population. Each one of those demanded from us to pay more and give up more of our freedom. If you did not learn from it there is no hope you will ever learn anything. Anyway. This is a Jeep forum so this environmental argument is out of place here.

There's a scientific law that states that matter cannot be created nor destroyed. In other words, it's human science telling us what Christians already knew thousands of years ago: God and God alone has the power to create new things and destroy what has been created. We, on the other hand, are restricted to making something from something else. We can cut trees and make lumber to build a house. We can mine oar and form steel to build a car. We can harvest minerals and herbs and make medicines for our bodies. We can basically transform things. But what we cannot do is create new matter or destroy matter. So, in the grand scheme of things, it is impossible for human beings to "destroy the Earth" as the environmental nut-job crowd would like people to believe. It's not going to happen.

Now, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be good stewards of what we've been given. We certainly shouldn't litter and purposefully pollute the air, land, and water for no gain. What it does mean is that we should not live in fear that our activity is going to destroy the planet. It's ridiculous to think that people put here purposefully to live off the earth are going to destroy the earth by living off it.

What our great-grandchildren are most at risk of is the undoing of government, law, and order. It won't be the environment that the end comes through, it'll be the socialism. Just flip on the news right now and you can already see the ball of yarn coming unraveled as the evil thugs and lawbreakers are glorified and hailed while the blue collar hard working folks are standing in unemployment lines.

That's why I say screw it....life is short and if a guy wants to modify his diesel to better suit his needs and generate gain, so be it. The government can get lost.
