Has anyone modded stock Rubicon sliders? Is it feasible to expect them to be any good after modifying them? I have a friend who does custom welding work (tig and mig) and he offered to modify mine. He nor I have ever seen stock ones modified. I was going to go with some 1.75in .250 wall DOM and was thinking of just using the old sliders for the mounts. I can get most of this for fairly cheap from my vendors since I work in a machine shop. Any friendly input would be greatly appreciated, keep the snobby comments to yourself if you feel the need to make any.

Kevin and Brittany from Litebrite welded some tubing to their OE sliders.

Right at the 1 minute mark.

I'm sure they would work. But at the end of the day, they are still mounted to the body and pinch seam. And as close as they sit to the body from the factory I wouldn't trust them to take any big hits.
