Would this be an issue you would let go of?

Have you looked inside the door jamb where the hinges are? My 2 door has a fade of spray in them, not to mention the door hinge bubbles on the outside. The Paint process is not one of FCA's strong points.

Take a magnet to it. If it is steel then it might rust if not painted. I would at least take a rattle can to it if it is steel. Last week I dropped my windshield for the first time (I have had the Jeep since late January) to run wires down the A-pillar. There was a big gash in the paint in a place that was hidden when the windshield was up. I was pissed, took a deep breath and hit it up with some touchup paint so that it wouldn't rust. Since I will never run with my windshield down due to mods I decided to let it slide so I could spend quality time playing verses wasted time pissing

It's a Jeep Thang. Rattle Can fix, and stop nit picking. The time, and effort you put into getting FCA to fix it isn't worth it. you can spend a few ours without the Jeep, after you fix it yourself waiting for the paint to dry. Or, spend a week, or many, getting FCA to do it, then correct what they screwed up, trying to fix it. .. Pick and choose your fights.

Hereā€™s the deal - there is clearly missing paint and painters tape left from the factory. Itā€™s in a relatively inconspicuous spot and you only obviously see it if you drop the windshield. I took it in to get it fixed along with other warranty work and the dealership sent me out of the door on the paint issue saying ā€˜you canā€™t see it, repair denied.ā€™ I asked for a reason as itā€™s a clear factory mistake and they refused to answer. After 36 (mostly unrelated) days without my vehicle I was in a hurry and couldnā€™t stay to continue to escalate.

Jeep customer care agent that @JeepCares set me up with could not and would not give me a reason in writing why this was allegedly denied for warranty repair. I asked who to elevate to and was told all she could advise was call the dealerā€™s service or collision center manager (the ones who denied me) They did tell me no pics were submitted that she could see which supports my suspicion that no warranty request was even made.

At this point Iā€™m pissed I let my lemon law time frame expire on the other issues because all I wanted to believe is Jeep would make an obvious defect correct. Now this is 2 dealerships that have turned me away. The first I KNOW didnā€™t submit a warranty request, the second I suspect didnā€™t.

Who can I turn to?
Can others confirm this spot painted for my case? Post some pics?
Am I being a baby?

I thought this was genuinely a low priority thing cause it never crossed my mind Iā€™d be denied on something I felt so obviously not right. Now itā€™s making me feel like the fool that spent 68k on a Jeep and expecting any level of quality control!
(notice factory painters tape still there in second pic?!)

Beware! Paint started bubbling in the first year on my hood. Dealer ordered a new hood and had it painted. The color was a bit off so I complained. Body shop says dealer only paid for repaint not blending! Dealer is working with Jeep to get hood to match the rest of the vehicle!

Ive had my jeep for over 3 years. I checked and my 2019 isnt painted there. It has some sort of primer but not the Granite crystal color or whatever it is called.

How did you even notice that? Just enjoy your Jeep. It isnt perfect.

Jeep most definitely has an issue painting this area. A few days after bringing our new 4xe, with the dual top group, home I came across this 3" piece of masking tape imbedded in the paint after removing the Freedom Panels. Seemed like a pretty obvious mess up during the paint process at the factory. Sent some pics to my salesman and dropped it off for the service manager to take a look at. They said there was nothing they could do since it was reported 24hrs after delivery. Not cool. Persistence got to the point that it would get repaired properly but I would need to take it to a body shop. Repair bill was $250 and was paid for by Jeep under warranty. Body shop said it was a good thing it got repaired because it was raw steel underneath the tape and certainly would have rusted over time.

Why is poor quality so readily accepted and sarcastically defended by the Jeep community?
Instead of giving the OP grief about his concerns of an unbelievably obvious factory paint quality issue, why wouldn't everyone want to know why the factory leaves masking tape on the metal and doesn't paint a structural portion of the steel? Identifying these issues and addressing them would hopefully get the factory to implement corrective solutions to prevent future occurrences, much like it did with getting the loose lower ball joint castle nuts corrected at the factory. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

OP, ask for a Jeep Retention Specialist from Jeep Cares and forward them your pictures.

Can you see it when the pieces you removed are installed back in place?

I can't imagine why anyone would be upset by an unpainted spot underneath trim or other parts that cover it.
I get this comment šŸ’Æ...my issue would be about rust though. Jeeps are meant to be off-road and in/around water and with our removable tops, seals and things may not work over time, allowing some moisture in. If the unpainted spot doesn't allow for rust, then I wouldn't worry about it. I likely would paint it myself tbh. My other issue is the behavior of these dealerships; obviously with tape on the vehicle, something occurred and we know it isn't right lol. And what does the factory warranty say? If this area is covered then there should be no negotiation about the issue as it shouldn't be an issue. Is it covered under warranty...where is this in writing? If it is, fix it. If it isn't, then I'll fix it.

However, if I had to deal with the back-n-forth convos with the dealerships, I'd likely pass and paint it myself as others have suggested. @Mgg253 You might save yourself some stress and paint it yourself. As others have posted, there are Mopar spray paints available and some local auto stores like O'reilly, Advance Auto, or Autozone may be able to match your particular paint and create some spray paint for you. This is what I did when I had the red tow hooks on the rubicon front bumper painted to "Mojito". Eventually, the paint would rub off once the tow hooks are used lol, but I wanted it to match and look cute!

IMO, don't let it stress you out.

....this is what I'm talking about. Thanks for confirming about the potential rust!

Paint seems a non issue to me. Loss of rig use for 36 days due to warranty service would piss me off however.
LOL I'm going on 39 days without my jeep, due to an engine replacement...LOL. And yes, it is quite annoying! šŸ˜…

Gotta ask. . . why is the windshield down???

G.
Because they are made to be down. It's another versatility option with the wranglers. My dad has a '83 CJ7 Jeep and he would always put the windshield down when we would off-road on our heavily wooded land in E. Texas. Our summers here are ridic hot, and we all would be piled in there so, laying the windshield down was an old-school "cooling feature" lol while adventuring.

It's essentially like removing the top, the doors, etc. It's just another "jeep" experience.
