So about a month ago, I purchased five Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT size 40x13.50r17 tires. I mount them on my bead lock wheels, but had not mounted them on the Jeep yet.
I am moving them in the garage as they do take up space and noticed a defect in one of the tires.
I take the tire back to my local Discount Tire and they say they can't warranty them as the bead lock ring will leave the groves in the bead on the tire and the distributor will not accept them as a return. Discount Tire was like it's no big deal, that will wear out of the tire in a couple thousand miles. BLA bla bla bla bla. Note I did get a great deal on the tires.
So I get home, find the customer service number for Mickey Thompson. Not expecting much but give them a call. I get a guy on the phone and tell him my plight. He gives me his email and said send me a picture. So I do while we are still on the phone.
He looks at the picture and says, "We can't send you out in to the wild with tire like that." He then says you have an email incoming. Give the warranty approval code to Discount Tire and they will replace your tire..
I get the code and thank him for his assistance. I get off the phone and call Discount Tire back. I tell them that Mickey Thompson gave me a code to replace the tire with zero cost to me. Discount Tire while on the phone make the claim, get the approval and I had a new 40 inch tire the next day. Discount Tire did dismount the tire and put my wheel in the new tire, so all I had to do was install the bead lock ring again.
Many companies could learn from Mickey Thompson about how customer service is done.
