sounds like most of the same.
i've run every variation of BFG MTs, and a few Goodyears (including the MT/Rs; liked the earlier ones better than the current version) and a few other lesser brands. thought the Destination M/T2 was the worst tire we ever tried on any surface as we'd have them slip even on damp pavement (but i never tried the currant-flavored version ;)).

if you like a mudder but are looking for better slick traction and lower noise, have you tried having the tires siped (*not* grooved)? i found it to be very helpful for snow work (we play in the Sierra here, too), and on smooth rock; the lower noise was just a bonus.
admittedly, there's something perversely fun about cutting slits in a brand-new set of tires. 😄

Comparing them to my past MT tires , BF Goodrich MT, Goodyear MTR, Micky Thompson MTZ , Cooper Discoverer , and my currant Firestone MT 2 . All with limited siping . How many different brands have you ran? I have been on multiple trail runs with AT tired rigs , might work for you in the desert or on CA highways .

What’s your complaint on the highway, with them?
I feel like there's a delay in steering when making lane changes or reacting to traffic. They are somewhat noisy too. Mine are E rated also, so maybe that is why.

I'm probably being too picky since these are my first true offroad tires. I don't have experience with any others to compare them too.

Some of these new hybrid tires look pretty solid. I still can't seem to gravitate away from a MT due to all other AT tires I've run in the past not clearing mud nearly as well as a MT. How do these clear mud?

actually just switched to stt pro's again. I ran a set when they first came out back in I think 2015 and was impressed with them so when I found a set of new blems I couldn't pass them up.

Never can go wrong with STT PRO tires. They are great tires. If I was to go back to a MT, that is what I would run again and again and again.

I have been running MT Baja Boss Mud Terrains and have nearly 80K on them with a 5 tire rotation. I am not as hard core of an offroader like Ted or some othes but have wheeled it on rocks at least once a year since we got her in 2019.

The best tire I have still has 10/32s on it. The lowest is still above the wear-bar but they will be replaced this summer. Looking to do MT BB All Terrains just because it is driven more than wheeled.

The MT BB Muds do get loud after a rotation and they have stayed louder longer as they have had more miles.

Glad to see your post Ted. Go Blue! ;)

@wibornz - what do they measure on the Jeep (top of tire to ground)?

Great review. My friend runs these and loves them. She wheels all over the southwest and has nothing but praise for how well they’ve held up to all the terrain and rock crawling she’s done.

You talking about Julie? I chatted with her before I bought mine since she’s ran these tires in the same rocks/conditions that I will. She and Ted (the OP of this thread) were very helpful and it made my decision to run these an easy one.

Based on Ted's review and my past experiences with Mickey Thompson/Cooper on my trucks, I ended up going with them today. Should be on in a week or so, barring a backorder.

Mine are cold and at 28psi. They measure 35.75” and remember mine is a heavy pig.
Thanks for this! I'm at 5700# empty so not sure how much the weight difference is, but getting close to 36" loaded is the goal for my next set of tires.

I’m probably 5800 empty. So, I’d guess these tires would be the same for you. Mine has a hard top with headliners, Genesis dual batts, AAL rear upper shelf, AAL rear platform with fridge slider, AAL cubby with battery and dual ARB compressor, Cav Fab rear tire carrier and bumper, Motobilt boat-side sliders, winch, PSC pump and box for hydro assist steering, etc. I’m on RK 4.5” springs that netted me about 3.75” of lift. Like I said, heavy pig.
