sounds like most of the same.
i've run every variation of BFG MTs, and a few Goodyears (including the MT/Rs; liked the earlier ones better than the current version) and a few other lesser brands. thought the Destination M/T2 was the worst tire we ever tried on any surface as we'd have them slip even on damp pavement (but i never tried the currant-flavored version
).
if you like a mudder but are looking for better slick traction and lower noise, have you tried having the tires siped (*not* grooved)? i found it to be very helpful for snow work (we play in the Sierra here, too), and on smooth rock; the lower noise was just a bonus.
admittedly, there's something perversely fun about cutting slits in a brand-new set of tires.

Comparing them to my past MT tires , BF Goodrich MT, Goodyear MTR, Micky Thompson MTZ , Cooper Discoverer , and my currant Firestone MT 2 . All with limited siping . How many different brands have you ran? I have been on multiple trail runs with AT tired rigs , might work for you in the desert or on CA highways .
