Metal black trim

Detailers ... need some advice on how to clean / protect our black trim that are not plastic. For me, that is the rubicon rock rails and the black metal fuel door cap. The black plastic trim pieces and rubber I can clean and restore a deep black with Meguiars. Most notably, I have white residue after applying paste wax everywhere. Open to suggestions, thanks.

You can get the white residue off with isopropyl alcohol, but it will take off all the wax as well.

I use 303 protectant on all of the black stuff on my vehicles.
