How did you decide where to go? Did you have the trip mapped out prior? I dig the graphic on the hood, does it represent something?
Hello, I’m a former auto glass tech and I can safely say there’s not a whole lot of good options sadly. Some people have gotten Diamond coating done on their windows and say it helps. But for the most part it’s a sell feature on new vehicles and a cash grab. If you’re issue is rocks being thrown at you the real thing you can do is stay super far behind the person in front. I do know you’re pain, less than a month in and I’ve got a crack across the whole windshield and a massive rock chip.
Thanks! I had a general sense of the places I wanted to go and see, but just a vague plan. I like to keep my trips as flexible as possible and play them by ear. For example, I didn't necessarily plan on spending 3 nights in the Borrego Springs, CA area but I found so much there that I wanted to photograph that I stayed longer. Also, I've made several trips to the southwest before so I've got a pretty good sense of what's there, what I've seen, what I haven't seen, and what I might want to see again. I knew I wanted to spend time in the Borrego Springs area, Joshua Tree, Mojave Preserve, Death Valley and southern Utah. Beyond that I just took it one day at a time and explored what made sense to explore each day.
