Based on some of the posts here, I think you should clarify that Warthog and Thunderbolt refer to the same aircraft, the A-10. Officially it's the Thunderbolt II but pilots preferring to call it Warthog. It was built by Fairchild Republic, the successor to Republic which built the original P-47 Thunderbolt--a fighter bomber that built its fame on ground attack. Kind of like the F-16 is the Fighting Falcon, but F-16 pilots prefer to call it Viper...although all other pilots call it Lawn Dart!
