MC rear bumper licence

I just placed the order for the jl full size rear bumper. I don't see any way to attach the backup lights or the license plate. I already have the mopar 3rd brake light relocate so I am wondering what more I need to know the plate legal in California and have operational backup lights. Thanks.

I'm not sure about California law but arent your reverse lights in your brake lights?

The most important things in Ca are to have the license plate light and the plate not be mounted over a certain height from the ground. Not having the light will get you a ticket faster then the plate being slightly mounted to high.

You are right about the backup lights. I remember seeing lights in some rear bumpers.

As show above in the posted photo it does not have the license plate light.

Finding a quality and decent looking bumper that has the required lighting for the plate built in is not an easy task for JL owners. I am in this same boat and haven’t found a quality one that checks that box yet.

I went ahead and bought the brake light / license plate relocate. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to go that route.

For me that’s not an option because I carry “gear” on my spare tire that would completely cover the plate.

I agree with you. I just wish there is a better option.

I had the same problem with my Rugged Ridge rear bumper. I went with 11238.15 which included a pair of LED license plate bolts. They were junk, and Rugged Ridge wanted me to jump through more hoops than it was worth to me to get a replacement for the one that broke, so I ended up going with this. I wired the light to the existing tag light harness that I extracted from the original bumper. The bracket is quite sturdy. Installation requires drilling two holes in the bumper. I got mine as close to the tailgate as possible, while still allowing enough clearance to swing it open.

I'm sitting here looking at that stupid "low and show" exhaust. Sigh. I should have just gotten an extension tip for my rock crawler so I could get it inspected in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Virginistan.
