I had the same issue.trying to finish up installing and when i open the tail gate i can only open about 3/4 of the way because the factory tailgate stop (the metal piece that goes from the tailgate to inside of the brake light cavity) will not allow it to open any farther. am i supposed to remove this piece or have i done something incorrect?
Sorry to see this. We ship the High Lift mount with a stopper-bolt which limits the travel and prevents this exact scenario.Did some badge of honor trails in Arkansas this weekend and the TC did great.
I did however find an issue with the hilift mount.
The gate can swing open far enough to allow the hilift to contact the brake light which finally broke after a weekend of wheeling.
Is there a plan to make a stop?
I am going to bend some steel the can act as a stop when installed over the hinge pin but it would be cool if maximus 3 made one for the hilift kit.
I did get those bolts with the kit, but there were no instructions. I put it on in a hurry and didn't think much of it until now.Sorry to see this. We ship the High Lift mount with a stopper-bolt which limits the travel and prevents this exact scenario.
It's a rubber-headed bolt that goes on the tailgate hinge.
The stopper-bolt apparently either wasn't included or not installed.

Can you email the installation instructions?
Thanks guys! I'm glad you already had a fix for it, unfortunately I didn't install it!!
Mine came the with hardware.Probably a dumb question but...for people that have installed their tire carriers, did you reuse the factory hardware to mount the hinge to tailgate or were there bolts provided? The instructions call for 4 stainless steel truss bolts and washers but thats not in my kit?
Thanks for that.Mine came the with hardware.
