SHORT with full rail kit and ladders
Do you know the fitment on this setup without the rail kit but with a FSR High Country 55" Tri-Layer RTT? I haven't found any photos online of the setup and I have all the parts now but I am wondering if I should opt for the LONG instead of the SHORT

Thanks!

Our rack systems are a great platforms for mounting all types of RTT's. As long as your tents mounting dimensions fall inside our rack's dimensions you should be golden. Tents and other cargo can overhang the rack.

Most people with large tents opt for our LONG rack, but the SHORT works too in most cases.
Instagram's @boblife365 ran a FSR RTT on our Maximus-3 Roof Rack System.

@Maximus-3 . I have a Rhino Rack back bone system installed on my 18 JLU Sahara. I have the short quick release adapters so the rack is not so high. I want to install the Maximus 3 ladder. Do you know what if any install has been done for this setup ? And if so, what type of difference between the mounting plate and ladder ?

The Maximus-3 JL Ladder was designed to-spec specifically for our Maximus-3 JL Roof Rack System which is 54" wide. Most other racks on the market have different dimensions. Basically, there is a several inch difference (height and width) between ours and other competing racks. This means our ladder would need to be custom mounted/adapted by the customer. I've heard of people using spacers and longer hardware.

Where there is a will... there is a way. It's just up to you to make it happen. I know there are dozens of people who have made your said combo work.
Cheers

Ordered mine yesterday. Can’t wait to install it. I like the fact that this rack is very low profile and sturdier than most out there.

Is the xm relocation needed with the short rack or only the long?

It might be alright with the short rack. It’s a must for the long rack.

It’s easy enough to add later, so I would say if you have the short rack, try without the relocation bracket first and if you get too many drop outs, relocate the antenna then.

For best reception possible, the satellite antenna should be relocated with all sizes of our rack. Both the Short & Long platforms cover the factory location for the satellite antenna (the sound bar.)
The satellite bracket is included in all our JL rack systems.

Has anyone installed a Maximus-3 w/ the SHORT or LONG Rhino Rack Pioneer platform and later wished they had installed the other size?

I'm torn between the Short vs Long Pioneer platforms.

My JLU is a daily driver being updated for mild overlanding.
I like the idea of the Short platform for the ability to add the Bestop Sunrider later on for easy access of an open air top. This is NOT a must have or a deal breaker...just an idea for a future mod.

But I also like the the thought of the additional platform space of the Long version (with and w/o the RTT installed).

I'm going to be installing either a 56"x48" or 62"x48" roof top tent between 130-160lbs static weight along with a 270 degree awning.

Thought, suggestions or experiences with the SHORT or LONG platforms?

I’m running through the EXACT same issue, was hoping there would be some replies but I’ll check back later. I actually just ordered the large one today but am seriously thinking about canceling and switching. I like the look of the short better I think, and I doubt I’ll ever need the full size, aside for a RTT down the line.

I would let your Sunrider desire be your guide. If you go with the long platform, you simply cannot have a Sunrider. But if you don't think you'll want a Sunrider, go with the long platform for the extra space. I'm happy I have the long platform for the extra space, but I know I'll never have a Sunrider as a result.

I agree with your insight. As a first time Wrangler owner I’m still learning and feeling it out with each new experience and upgrade.

With your long platform do you regularly remove the Freedom panels? If so, do typically carry them with you or leave them at home?

I’m finding it a bit of an annoyance to use up the limited internal space when we remove them, though I’m certain I can adapt and overcome.
