I love the whole setup and I am pretty pumped about running it with no top too. You guys knocked it out of the park with this one. Here are a few of my favorite pics:

Any way you can post the install instructions? I'm interested but want to check out the full install process, especially when it comes to removing the hard top while this rack is installed.

Ordered mine earlier this week!

I am a bit curious about mounting a roof top tent on the Pioneer Platform though. I've been searching around for better info on it and I've seen a good number of online posts from people having to modify the platform a bit to make it work. Is there anybody with experience on mounting a roof top tent to the Pioneer Platform (any vehicle) on here?
Thanks for the order @SeanWestFedge, you will love this Rack.

Maximus-3 has some experience when it comes to mounting a roof top tent (RTT) to our rack. We have found several ways to do it, I will go over them now:
Most RTT's typically mount with u-bolts around the crossbars of the rack. The Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform has crossbars on the underside of the rack. Due to the low profile nature of our Maximus-3 Rack, it can be difficult to get the u-bolts into place. That's why we came up with a few clever options.

* Option 1: Source some Rhino Rack Accessory Bars to mount on the top side of the platform. These accessory bars make it much easier to get the u-bolts into place for mounting a tent. They come in different lengths, so you can choose one that works best for you. Here is a link: http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/prod...accessory-bar-hd-c-channel-1220mm-4ft-_43119b

* Option 2: Maximus-3 created a slick custom mounting option that ditches the whole u-bolt to crossbar method. We created a way to use Lag-Bolts that drop into the channels on the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform. This is by far the easiest and quickest way to mount a tent on this rack. This mounting option provides the lowest profile, and reduces the mounting height by several inches. You can purchase a Lag-Bolt kit directly from Maximus-3. Attached is our install guide

The Maximus-3 roof rack is one of the strongest systems out there, and it's great for supporting roof top tent operations. These alternative mounting options can save a lot of time in the long run.

Thanks for the question @drywolf ,
A 2-door model is still in the design phase, no ETA at this time. The 2-door JL has a different sports bar, we are working on different mounting locations and brackets.
I can't wait for this. I will 100% purchase the 2-door rack. What is the estimated time for installation? Just curious to see the time it would take to go topless with the rack for a day.

I love how the mounting points are to the sports bar, seems like a much stronger location to mount a roof rack. In the specs it’s mentioned the static load is 900 pounds and the dynamic load is 300.

Does the dynamic load figure include lateral forces on the rack brackets? Such as the Jeep tipping side to side on a rough trail.

That's awesome news. I need a roof rack to carry my spare.

Thank you Maximus-3

@Maximus-3 Just out of curiosity, do you all make a bracket type system that goes on the hard top gutter as well and works with the pioneer platform system? I don't see myself needing a roof top tent anytime soon so it would be just to maybe anchor a Awning too and or high lift jack. Not sure. I really want the more story brackets but I'm needing other things at the moment first and later I can get the stronger sport bar mounting brackets.

Hi @Orange,

For our 4-door rack, the initial install takes between 4-6 hours (for the first time only) Add more time if installing ladders, rail kits, or other accessories. This includes time to assemble the platform, accurately measure drill points, fit brackets, test fit the rack, etc. We say it's a two person install due to having to lift the rack on/off the jeep a couple times.

The install time for switching to topless rack depends on the person's skills and toolbox. We do it here in under an hour with two people. The process includes: unbolting the rack from the hardtop, unbolting the ladder(s), removing the hardtop as normal, then bolting the rack directly to the brackets and reinstalling ladders.

Sure it takes a little longer to take the top off, but it's a fair trade-off for all the benefits of this roof rack system. It can support nearly a half ton.

Excellent question @Bluebear ,

Maximus-3 strongly recommends exercising caution when driving with any load on the roof rack. The heavier the load, the more it changes your center of gravity and increases your roll-over risk (especially on uneven surfaces.)
We calculated the lateral forces and a 300 pound dynamic load is most we feel comfortable with, for safety reasons.
Safe driving both on and off-road is ultimately the responsibility of the driver. We just want to educate people on the physics of driving with a dynamic load on their rack and urge them to drive with caution.

Maximus-3 convoys to many Jeep shows across this great nation. We always load our roof racks up and we have had zero issues on long road trips. And Jeepers like Instagram's @theunofficialbob have shown the world that you can hit gnarly trails in Moab, UT with a loaded up Maximus-3 Roof Rack...if you know what your doing.

Hi @RubenZ, at this time Maximus-3 does not intend to develop a rain gutter mounting system. We are very happy with our high capacity brackets mounting to the sports bar. I believe there are other companies doing stuff like that, so you should be able to find what you are searching for. Thanks for reaching out though!

@Maximus-3 thank you for the super detailed response! Makes my job a lot easier for future planning and I'll absolutely look at your mounting solutions.

@American Jeeper I'm looking forward to seeing your future roof top tent setup, been following your videos for a couple months now!
Thank you-I am pretty excited about it!

Thank you for the response. I'll keep an eye out for the 2-door version. I'm going to safely assume that a summer 2019 release is a bit of wishful thinking but from the looks so far, it may be worth the wait.
