Meet the Maximus-3 JL Roof Rack System. This kit includes: Maximus-3 roof rack mounting brackets and features the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform. This strategic combination results in one of the strongest roof racks on the market, with a static load rating tested over 900 pounds. It’s great for carrying roof top tents, skis, kayaks, surf-boards, and much more. Increase your cargo carrying capacity for your next trip with the Maximus-3 JL Roof Rack System

The Maximus-3 roof rack system mounts through the hardtop to the factory sports-bar, sometimes called the “roll cage”. This rack’s incredible strength comes from two things: 1.) the Maximus-3 heavy-duty steel mounting brackets and legs. 2.) being directly mounted to the sport-bar. We firmly believe mounting to the sports-bar is the superior way to carry heavy loads.

    Additional Features:
    • Low profile, minimal height increase equals less wind-noise.
    • Lightweight aluminum Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform
    • Retains easy removal of freedom tops
    • Hardtop is removable by unbolting the brackets from the sports-bar
    • Can be installed on a topless JLU
    • Available in two sizes: Long and Short

Another cool feature is the optional Maximus-3 Side Ladder, sold separately. The ladder is constructed from heavy-duty 1” steel tubing. It provides a convent way to climb on/off the rack and is helpful for loading/unloading your cargo. The ladder is designed to fit on either side of the Jeep. Or run them on both sides for extra versatility.

Other optional accessories for Rhino Rack’s Pioneer Platform (sold separately):
    • Full Rail Kit
    • Side Rail Kit
    • Back Rail Kit (can also be flipped for a Front Rail Kit)
    • Various Carriers (kayak, ski, gas can holders, etc.)
    • Accessory Bars and more

Maximus-3 is the official Roof Rack of: Rockstar's Performance Garage, Tyri Lights, Sled Dogs Snowskates, American Jeeper (YT), and many other industry professionals. Tons of Jeepers trust the Maximus-3 Roof Rack System to carry their precious cargo, and you should too.

In conclusion, whether you need additional cargo space, a place to mount a roof top-tent, or if you want to throw a small party on-top of your JL….Maximus-3 has you covered with our JL Roof Rack System. Cheers!

I love the whole setup and I am pretty pumped about running it with no top too. You guys knocked it out of the park with this one. Here are a few of my favorite pics:

How do you go from hardtop with this installed to hardtop removed? Do you have to take the rack off, then remove hardtop, then re-install roofrack?

Are the legs/mount/attachment points able to be left on when the doctor is installed or are they at least easily uninstalled so you can change to soft top during summer?

Any idea when the new aero front crossmember will be available for the pioneer platform that Rhino Rack was showing at SEMA? That's the only thing I'm waiting to learn more about before I order this product.

Also I'm curious if anyone has installed this with hotheads liners and has pics to share?

You just unbolt the 8 brackets from the top then reinstall. Easy enough as they are all the same size and take an Allen wrench on one side.

You could take the brackets off entirely, but it’s not really intended to work with a soft top. The tricky part there would be the front brackets, but it’s doable and not a big deal if you are changing the top out for the whole summer.

    Ordered mine earlier this week!

I am a bit curious about mounting a roof top tent on the Pioneer Platform though. I've been searching around for better info on it and I've seen a good number of online posts from people having to modify the platform a bit to make it work. Is there anybody with experience on mounting a roof top tent to the Pioneer Platform (any vehicle) on here?

I’ll know in a month or two! Since it is such a narrow profile I have heard it is tight. I am almost positive there is a forum member that added one.

Thanks for the question @drywolf ,
A 2-door model is still in the design phase, no ETA at this time. The 2-door JL has a different sports bar, we are working on different mounting locations and brackets.
