We are pleased to release the all new Maximus-3 JL 2 DOOR Roof Rack System.
Add some much needed cargo space to your JL 2 Door. This system is great for mounting roof top tents and carrying heavy loads. The low profile design adds less than 3" of height to the Jeep which cuts down on wind-noise and drag.

Our mounting system connects the roof rack to the structural sportsbar "roll cage" which is great for distributing heavy loads. Our superior mounting method allows us to achieve the following distributed load ratings:
* 900 pound Static Load
* 300 pound Dynamic Load

This system includes:
* Maximus-3 - Rack Mounting System, featuring high-strength steel internal load-bearing brackets and formed steel legs.
* Rhino Rack - Pioneer Platform
* Maximus-3 - JL Satellite Antenna Relocation Bracket - moves the satellite antenna for better reception quality.

Optional Accessories (sold separately):
* Maximus-3 JL Roof Rack Ladder(s) - convenient for loading/unloading cargo and climbing onto the rack.
* Rail Kits from Rhino Rack - add a perimeter to the rack - adds an additional 2.5" of height.
* Maximus-3 Light Mounts
* A wide variety of accessory mounts from Rhino Rack (ski, snowboard, shovel, jack, and much more)

Maximus-3 is extremely proud of this little guy, and we know you all are going to love it.

Nice design. I’ll buy one if you go back and make it in aluminum for a win. You aftermarket guys are overloading our Wranglers with metal goodness. We are wising up to “overlanding means overloading”.
FYI our entire system only weighs about 60 pounds.
* The bulk of this system's weight comes from the rack platform - which is made from extruded aluminum.
* For structural reasons our engineers decided that steel was the superior material.
* The set of steel brackets only weighs 16 pounds.
* Making aluminum brackets would only save a few pounds, plus they would not be as strong (severely decreased load capacity).

This is hardly "overloading" as you claim. The weight difference between steel and aluminum brackets would be 5-8 pounds, definitely nothing to complain about. Any structural engineer would agree with our choice pertaining to strength.

Well done! I’ve been waiting a long time for this to come along!

I don’t see the 2-door model on your site, yet. Do you have a link?

Great looking rack. A few questions:

1. Looks like you drill through the top to mount to the roll bar, right? Can you describe the difficulty of removing the top when the rack is set up?

2. looks like it would not work with a Sunrider given the rack protrudes into the front Freedom top area?

other than the potential concerns above, this is the best looking rack I’ve seen. I have your winch plate and it is well made.

1. This install requires eight holes to be drilled in the hardtop. We provide a two-piece rubber gasket to waterproof seal each hole. To remove the hardtop you only need to unbolt 8 fasteners which frees the bracket assembly from the sportsbar. We have made improvements to our brackets for ease of top removal.

2. This 2-door rack will not currently work with a Sunrider top from Bestop. Our rack protrudes over the freedom panels enough where the sunrider wouldn't open. Our system has enough room to allow the OE Freedom Panels to be taken off. We chose a 52" long platform to provide the most cargo space without interfering with the freedom panels. To make that combo work you would need a much smaller rack platform or possibly custom mounting our rack much further rearward.

Working on video. Rite now, the only way to get an install guide is to purchase the rack. But we are happy to verbally walk you through the entire install & answer any questions.
- Cheers

Thoughts on how best to mount the iKamper Skycamp mini RTT?
We have come across several different methods to attach a tent to our rack system. Here are some general methods to consider, some ways are faster and easier than others.

1. Most tents come with u-bolts that secure around crossbars. Our rack system is very low profile so it can be hard to get your hands under the rack to install the u-bolts. Some customers install the tent to the rack before installing the rack to the Jeep.

2. You can source a set of crossbars to mount on the top of the rack. Then proceed with the standard u-bolt install method. This provides more space to access the u-bolts. Here is an example: http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/prod...-accessory-bar-c-channel-1360mm-4-4ft-_43138b

3. Maximus-3 sells a Tent Lag Bolt Kit which is a custom way to mount most RTT. Basically we ditch the u-bolts to utilize the channels in the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform to mount the tent to the rack. This involves drilling 4 holes into the base of your RTT, then the lag bolts drop into the platforms channels and then secure a nut from inside the tent.

4. Some customers report success with the Front Runner's Quick Release Tent Mount Kit.

I'm sure there are other great mounting methods out there too. Hope this helps.

Hey guys! Long time fan...just sold my Tepui which is used the lag bolt method and it is absolutely money...wish I didn't have to change...however, moved to Seattle and my new building has limited garage clearance. So went with the Roofnest Falcon. Its only 7 inches thick when closed and a hard top which is really great. However, the issue I am running into is that the mounting rails on the bottom of the tent are molded into the bottom and are 31" apart and cannot be moved. The base of the tent is not flat like tepui where I can drill through and use the lag bolt

31" means that one of the rails hits a gap where I can use a u-bolt however the other side runs into on of the 5 slats. My thoughts here are
1) drill holes through one of the slats to fit the bolts through
2) remove one of the slats to reveal the crossbar.

Do you see any issue with either of the above?

I agree w the install with the rack off or at least with the bolt undone so you can lift it bc there is no way you reach your hand under there. I have gone back and forth with going for the backbone system as its add another inch or so to work with in that gap.

Look forward to your thoughts. Thanks!

Just finished installing my Maximus-3 two door roof rack. It took me the better part of an afternoon but it all worked out great in the end. I found it a little easier to use a hoist to lift the roof and rack a little to line up everything.

Attached is a picture of the Jeep with the doors and Freedom panels off and the rack mounted.

There are a couple ways you could go about this combo:

1. customize the rack-platform to the 31" span of the RTT. This method would include drilling new holes in the planks/corner rails and then spacing the planks accordingly to match your tent.

2. you could install two crossbars on top of the planks, but that would add another inch or so to the overall height.

3. as you mentioned - drilling tent mounting hole into the planks.

Give us a call if you would like dive deeper into these methods. 248-821-6654
Best of luck

Hi guys, looking for some inspiration / help over here. Recent owner of 21 JL 2d, and this is by far my favorite roof rack setup. The thing is, long term I’m looking for a James Baroud Explorer Tent to be on top, and not matter how I look at it, the short rack won’t cut it with HTT dimensions (78”) and weight distribution. So my question becomes how (if possible and safe) to install the long rack on the JL 2D? Will that work? Are there other options available that you would recommend and if so, are there any images of it/them?
