Married or unmarried tazer for visit to the dealer

I have a question because I didn't understand the principle well.

For a visit to the dealer, is it possible to simply disconnect the Tazer and reconnect the OCBD from the Jeep WITHOUT unmarried the Tazer or do you always need a married person before disconnecting it?

Don’t have to unmarry however I do and plug the wires back into stock spot and remove both the dongle and that other part before going in

I have never unmarried mine but if I do I imagine I’ll have some warning lights.

No front axle disconnect anymore..4wd service light will come on.

What if you just unplug the tazer and not unmarry?

From my knowledge of talking to a tech so take that for what it’s worth. Can’t just unplug at OBD you also have to take off that jumper and plug those two plugs back in IF you need any sort of software update. Their computer won’t work if you just unplug the actual Tazer.

Here’s the danger with disconnecting it, but not unmarrying it: if the dealer applies a software update, the next time you do unmarry you are going to lose that update. My understanding is that Tazer takes a copy of the (current) factory flash when you marry it, and puts it back when you unmarry.

I was just in for the V41 recall and the very first thing they did was plug in their Wi-Tech scanner, probably just to update their computer with mileage, etc. I’m pretty sure that scan would work just fine with the Tazer in the middle, but if they need to push an update then you might get into an out-of-sync state with what the Tazer has backed up.

Personally, I always unplug and unmarry. I’m almost out of warranty, and when I am I will no longer bother and will, instead, just tell them it’s there (but will also only be going to the dealer for recall service).

I’m not sure what I should do for my next service. Just got my gears changed so I know if I unmarry it, it’s gonna be all messed up for the dealer to drive it into the service bay.

i think the gear change and tire size stays active after you unplug it fyi

I'm taking mine in for first oil change soon, so it seems like a good idea to unmarry it and remove before taking it in from what it sounds like....

It’s best to unmarry and remove Tazer to avoid possible issues if the system gets flashed, other programmers like JSCAN don’t require this as it’s not married to the system so all one does is go back in and write the changes over again.
