I've been trying to find a JLU 6MT to test drive in my area and my local dealer just told me this:

"Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will have any manuals in for a couple months, they're delayed in production."

Are they just pulling my chain?
Has anyone heard of actual production delays on the manual transmission 3.6?

I test drove one yesterday and it was great, so different from my JKU!

Could there be a delay now, and not necessarily delayed initially?

My dealer is probably talking BS and wants me to buy an auto they have in stock.

I may be placing an order in the next day or two and can let you know how it goes? I hope its not delayed! I'm in Canada though.

Well.... it all depends on how and when you ordered. I believe there is, currently, a restriction on manuals. I know FCA quietly began requiring the limited slip dif on Sports with manuals. FCA didn’t tell dealers this, and any orders placed before the restriction went into effect (Jan 3, I think?) went into limbo. Instead of notifying dealers that the orders require an edit.

That happened to me. I reordered 1/26, delivered to the dealer Fri 2/23 and took delivery this past Sat 2/24.)

Most dealers never stock manuals anyway. My first JKU was a manual and it had bounced around a few dealers before I found it and had my dealer get it for me.

BTW: I love my 6spd JLU Sport S! I even like the ESS!

I ordered one today. By the time they build a 2-door they’ll probably have overstock on transmissions!

I tell you what... FCA is really making me feel like a dying breed. I want a 2-door base Sport manual, and it's like I'm asking for a Faberge egg made from a combination of the mithral, hummingbird teeth, and intact sorority girl hymens.

How did building a 2-door Wrangler catch them by surprise?

Probably by looking at the profits of the loaded 4 doors. They do seem a lot more profit driven this time around.

They care a little bit about the purists, but they care a lot more about those high-dollar option-ticker customers they have.
