Do you HAVE to remove skid plate? And if so is it difficult?
I just changed my fluids, yesterday. I have a 2dr, but I think the skid plates are the same. I opted to remove it. It was a piece of cake to take off and to put back on. IMO, it’s less effort than trying to work around it.

I give up. What an I looking at? Looks like a steak from the butcher.
@OldGuyNewJeep

It's a heavy duty aluminum foil pan purchased at the $ store.

You cut a bit and bend to shape to make the reusable draining trough.

Trough easily slides in between skid and bottom of transfer case...

Transfer case oil goes down trough, and drops off end into a drain pain.

Easy to clean trough for reuse..

I just grabbed some cardboard and made a little lean-to for the fluid to run over. Worked great but you end up with an oily piece of cardboard. If I had an electric impact or my air was quicker to set up, I’d probably opt for removal.

I have this. Worked great for removing the skid.

Valvoline makes a synthetic transfer case fluid that says for use with transfer case using atf+4. The manual says the manual transmission fluid is atf+4. Can the transfer case fluid be used in the manual transmission?

Yes. Valvoline fully synthetic atf+4 goes in both tranny and transfer case.

Old thread but didn't see one more recent. This was really helpful identifying the fluid capacity of the transmission and transfer case.

This morning I did the transmission at 18980 miles. I'll get the transfer case tomorrow.

This little pump made the job simple: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/VAL818
