I didn’t know this was specific to manual transmission jeeps, but I agree with @voland that this shouldn’t be. It is very annoying, especially since the seat heater turns on full blast. Very uncomfortable by the time I realize it is on. Hopefully @JeepCares can provide some insight?
Hello Everyone,

I confirmed per our internal sources that this feature is operating as intended. The heated seats/steering wheel are intended to automatically turn on in temperatures below around 40F for all vehicles equipped with Auto Comfort Systems, but the setting to turn the Auto Comfort systems On/Off is only built in for vehicles with automatic transmissions. For those with manual transmissions, you will need to manually turn the heated seat and steering wheel on or off once you enter the vehicle if it has already activated because of the colder temperatures. We are not currently aware of any plans to add the On/Off option for those vehicles with manual transmissions. If any one has further questions, please feel free to send us a PM!

Wow. This seems like a simple software patch, why doesn't FCA take the voice of its customers seriously?

Thank you for your response. I understand what the designers were trying to do, unfortunately it didn’t turn out as planned. They probably didn’t realize how hot the seat gets at the full setting. hopefully someone will be looking at this in the future and will enable the user to override this feature if he/she chooses to.

The standard canned response is laughable. Here's a very likely scenario: when disabling the remote start section of the UConnect menus for manual transmissions cars, software developers forgot that the settings related to heated seats are also located under that disabled section. Now, since this affects a relatively low number of customers, this bug will not be fixed as higher priority issues will take over. Sadly, this is how it works... until some executive happens to experience the issue with his or her own behind being slowly fried and pushes the fix through.

My 2018 JLU Sahara 6-sp Manual - the heated seats and heated steering wheel automatically engage when it's below 40-50F and there is no option to prevent it. I start the vehicle, then scramble to kill the heated seats (default is to HI) and the heated steering wheel before it starts to get hot quickly. I read the previous posts and this omission on the manual-transmission models of an Auto-Comfort defeat mode option is totally unacceptable. Why can's FCA engineers issue an update and fix this annoying problem. It's even a safety issue. If you forget to defeat the feature, you are looking down at the dash to kill the hot seat and not focused on traffic. A better fix on the manual transmission models is to have the seat and steering wheel warmers default at all outside temperatures to OFF. If I want heat, I'll turn it on. Maybe I should cut the wire to the heater and install a toggle switch.

@JeepCares

I’ve gone round and round for over a month with phone calls to unconnect and fca customer care. Right now, Jeep DOESNT care because I never get a call back. The dealer tells me to call fca, then fca tells me it’s a dealer item to fix. Not once was I told there was no software update. The only thing the dealer did was get in my Jeep, look for the menu and said it’s not there we can’t help.

You’re wasting your time. Best bet on a “fix” would be if Tazer adds ability to change the 40 degree threshold. Just get used to pressing the buttons when you start the Jeep.

I figured as such, but never really got a definitive answer anywhere. Plus the lazy dealer didn't help and FCA support is clueless.

I agree that for the manual it would be simpler to just default to OFF than have this wacky behavior. And I like the feature the way it is.

That's a great idea. Probably would be more productive to engage Tazer in the conversation than FCA.

IIRC, it’s already on the Tazer feature request page.
